Entrevista SWCP: Colin Fergunson

Colin Fergunson é um ator canadiano que se notabilizou no papel do Xerife Carter na série “Eureka”. Também participou em filmes e séries como: Pânico no Lago III, Life´s a beach, CSI: Miami, etc. 

SWCP: Apesar de ter um curriculum invejável, acha que passou a ser mais conhecido ao ter interpretado o papel do Xerife Carter? 

C.F: Sim. Ter participado em “Eureka” modificou a minha vida e colocou-me realmente "no mapa". Eu nunca tinha sido a personagem principal de uma série que durasse 6 anos. Acabei por me tornar no realizador e produtor da série e vi que outros que se tornaram também realizadores, que modificaram igualmente as suas vidas. Nunca abandonaria esta experiência e sempre a recordarei com um enorme sentido de agradecimento. Também me fez um melhor ator. Somente o número absoluto de horas nos estúdios, o montante absoluto da prática que adquirimos em comédia e drama que nos foi pedido para fazer... foi uma escola de que fiquei muito grato por ter feito parte.

SWCP: Faz parte do elenco de “The Stupidest Angel” que será lançado em 2013. Pode falar-nos do seu personagem neste filme? 

C.F: Faço o papel do Tucker Case. Não estamos ainda seguros se este projeto fica concluído até à data indicada, mas estamos a tentar! Assinei com várias pessoas mas algumas delas estão agora ocupadas...mas estamos tentando. Faço de piloto que tem um morcego gigantesco como amigo que ele leva quando sai .... parece bem apropriado, não? 

SWCP: Foi convidado a apresentar o Typa Space,um espetáculo da Scifi News.Como foi essa experiência? 

C.F: É sempre uma alegria fazer um espetáculo onde a equipa é boa pesquisadora e profissional. Aqueles tipos têm um amor profundo pelo género e conteúdo na sua rede e também passam bons momentos com os seus empregos, por isso fazer aquele show é sempre divertido. 

SWCP: Apesar de ter nascido no Canadá, tem igualmente a cidadania britânica e mais recentemente a americana. Porquê?  

C.F: Sou cidadão dos EUA há muitos anos. É a minha casa. É onde vivo e não quis ficar como um residente permanente e potencialmente ver a minha casa a ser-me retirada. Estou orgulhoso em ser americano e por isso tornei-me cidadão desse país. 

SWCP: Que mensagem gostaria de enviar aos seus fãs em Portugal? 

C.F: Muito obrigado! Tem sido uma grande jornada e uma série que modificou a minha vida. Não podia ter existido sem todo o apoio que tivemos durante todos estes anos com ENORMES intervalos entre as temporadas. Obrigado pela vossa dedicação. É o vosso apoio que manteve a série no ar e foi também o vosso apoio que modificou a minha vida. Vocês foram mais uma parte desta viagem que  realizamos ...por tudo isso, obrigado!

The Canadian actor Colin Fergunson became famous while embodying the role of the Sheriff Carter in the series `Eureka´.Other movies and series in which he participated: Lake Placid III, Life´s a Beach, CSI: Miami, etc. 

SWCP: In spite you have already a great career, do you think that you became more known while interpreting the role of Sheriff Carter in `Eureka´?  

C.F: Yes. Being on Eureka changed my life and, really, put me on the map. I had never been the lead of a show before let alone a show that lasted for 6 years. I became a director and producer through the show and watched others become directors and have their lives change as well. I wouldn't give up the experience and will always look back with a huge sense of appreciation. Also it made me a better actor. Just the sheer number of hours on set, the sheer amount of practice we got, the amount of comedy and drama we were asked to do.... it was a school that I was so grateful to be a part of.

SWCP: You are part of the cast of `The Stupidest Angel´that will be launched in 2013. Could you tell us about your character in this movie?  

C.F: I play Tucker Case. We're not sure if that thing is going to get made at this point but we're trying!! I've signed on with a bunch of people and some are now busy... but we're trying. I play a pilot who has a giant bat as a friend he hangs out with.... sounds like a good fit, no?

SWCP: You were the guest presenter for Sci-Fi News Show, Hypa Space. How was this experience?  

C.F: It's always a joy to do a show where the team is well researched and professional. Those guys have a deep love for the genre and the content on their network and they also have a great time with their jobs so doing that show is always a joy.

SWCP: Although you´ve been born in Canada, you are also a citizen of U.K and recently became a naturalized citizen of the U.S.A. Why?   

C.F:  I've been a citizen of the US for many years. It is my home. It is where I live and didn't want to stay a permanent resident and potentially have my home taken away from me. I'm proud to be an american and that is why I became a citizen.

SWCP: Would you like to leave a message for your portuguese fans?  

C.F: Thank you so much! This has been a great ride and a show that changed my life. It could not have existed without all the support that we had through all the years with HUGE breaks between seasons. Thank you for your dedication. It's your support that kept the show on the air and so it was your support that changed my life. You've been more a part of this journey that you realize… So thank you.
