The British Dean Mitchell has trained and worked as an actor in the U.K and U.S.A in several films and series such as: Harry Potter, Doctor Who, Band of brothers. He also played the role of Cellheim Anujo, the Senator Tundra Dowmeia´s aide on Star Wars: Episode III.
SWCP: Tell us about your work on Star Wars: Episode III.
D.M: While working with Christian Simpson at Shepperton Studios on another project we went for a lunchtime walk... surprised to stumble across various sets for Episode III and got invited into the props store. Surprised as we weren't expecting them as although Christian was penciled in to stand-in for Hayden Christensen we assumed that the shoot would be taking place at Elstree Studios. Later that day I bumped into Sue Wood and expressed my interest in working on the film myself... later that day I had a call from my agent asking if I was free for a costume fitting the next day. To cut a long story short I ended up as Cellheim Anujo and was given future dates for rehearsal and shooting.
SWCP: You were also to participate on episodes I and II but it didn't happen. Why?
D.M: On Episode One, I was down to play a Naboo Civilian, though with various decent costumes running short there was an opportunity for me to be a Naboo Soldier, but as I wasn't the required 5ft 10in minimum I didn't follow that up and instead was released (with pay.) Episode II there were 6 of us sent up to be fitted for 2 characters... one of which was Passel Argente for the scene with Christopher Lee... I was the best fit out of 5 of us for that character but then when Nick Field showed up, they decided his chin was a slightly better fit for the prosthetics.
SWCP: You are a self-confessed sci-fi fan, have owning two DeLorean cars. How did you acquire these cars? Did you customize them?
D.M: After watching a documentary on Deloreans I thought out of curiosity i'd have a look on eBay to see how much I could get one for. I found one in Owensboro, Kentucky (Birthplace of Johnny Depp) and eventually won the auction... called up the owner who was a farmer who said "That's been in my barn, darn near 13 year." I had it shipped over to the UK and restored it. My 2nd Delorean had already been imported to the UK some years earlier and I believe I purchased it through a website Forum listing. It was in much nicer condition than the 1st. I had it converted to run on LPG and believe that it was the first ever Delorean to run on an alternative fuel... however, now I’ve recently purchased and almost finished restoring a Sinclair C5 electric vehicle from 1985 of all things!
SWCP: What is your favorite episode of Star Wars?
D.M: The Phantom Menace.... NO, NO, NO I Mean Empire Strikes back of course!
SWCP: How it was working with Steven Spielberg on `Band of Brothers´?
D.M: I don't recall seeing Steven Spielberg there while working on it... I do remember being directed by Tom Hanks briefly on Episode 4 or 5 I think. I get an awful lot of people come up to me for autographs from that show including real war veterans to tell me how realistic it was and how much they appreciate it.
SWCP: What message would you like to leave for the fans of Star Wars?
D.M: I really feel that Disney and JJ Abrams will deliver exactly what we want out of the Star Wars universe... will Cellheim Anujo survive through episodes VII - IX? Who knows, but whatever alien he is under that cloak, maybe he's long lived but the costume was new for Episode III. We'll have to wait and see!
