SWCP: When did you first become interested in acting?
D.H: I first became interested in acting as a kid. I was in fourth grade and auditioned for the annual Christmas play, "The Day Santa Lost His Beard". I snagged the lead part of Max Schmidt, The Head Gnome. At curtain call, the applause was intoxicating. I was hooked.
SWCP: You are a fan of Stanley Kubrick´s films. Why?
D.H: I love Kubrick's films simply for his unique style. He shot his movies in amazing symmetry; like paintings. "The Shining" and "A Clockwork Orange" are two of my favorites. I have few disappointments in life, but one of them was never having the chance to work with Kubrick before his passing four years ago.
SWCP: You have been played several villain´s roles. It is a type of role that you like interpreting more?
D.H: I like playing villains. It's always challenging to crawl under the skin of an antagonist and attempt to create a multi-dimensional human being. If one can play a villain and actually succeed in getting an audience to empathize with him/her, then mission accomplished!
SWCP: What you can say about the actors with whom you worked in `The Green Mile´?
D.H: I was surrounded by a stable of brilliant actors in The Green Mile and learned a great deal by working with them. Tom Hanks, of course, was our fearless leader. He's a very kind, funny, and generous man. It was also a privilege to work with Michael Clark Duncan [God rest his soul]. If you'd like to read my journal, "Walking the Green Mile", for a hands-on day-by-day account of my colorful adventures on the set of The Green Mile, its avail for download on my website: http://www.doughutchison.com.
SWCP: You are the owner of the production company Dark Water Inc.What is done in this company?
D.H: Dark Water Productions is my creative company. I've produced various projects like my web-series, "Vampire Killers" http://www.youtube.com/user/vampirekillerstv and more recently, my wife, Courtney's music video, "Reality" http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=mQnpjWHukys , to name a few. I'm also working on several original screenplays that I intend to produce/direct/act in under the umbrella of Dark Water. My birth name, Douglas, is a Celtic derivative meaning "of the dark water". Thus: the reason I chose the name for my company.
SWCP: Would you like to leave a message for your fans?
D.H: My message to fans: Follow your dreams. Do it your way. There are no rules.
