Entrevistas SWCP: Theresa Tilly

Obrigado pela vossa paixão pois trouxe-me muita alegria!

ENGLISH VERSION:

The American actress Theresa Tilly participated in several movies and series such as: Evil Dead, Old Days, Family Law, among others.
SWCP: You are well recognized in the Sam Raimi´s cult horror film `Evil Dead’. Which memories do you keep of your participation in this movie?
T.T: I fondly remember the excitement and passion we all had in just thinking about making a movie-not something that often happened to a girl from Detroit. We were all so very young and innocent and had never done anything so grand. We hardly questioned anything that was asked of us since we put our complete trust in Sam, Bruce and Rob. However, reality is harsh and soon after the drive down to Tennessee in Rich Demanicor’s (Scotty) van we learned of our not so romantic fate. We lived in tight quarters with the girls sharing the only bedroom- one bed and two army cots. We were multi-functional, actors and crew members, maintaining our accommodations in between shoots. The weather was far colder than any had anticipated for the grueling night shoots. The inexperience of all-cast and crew- required many takes and in the end we all remained in Morristown far longer than expected.
The script was only about 30 pages or so and in it there were no details of what would actually happen. For example, Ellen’s scene in the woods was written as “the woods attack Cheryl”. None of us had any idea that it would become what it is! We had no idea we’d be wearing those blinding lenses for a lot of our shooting while covered in “blood” in the dead of a cold winter night.
SWCP: Speaking of memories, did already happen any kind of funny situations with you during the shots?
T.T: There were plenty of funny situations, not funny ha ha, but funny maddening or “what is going on?” One that I “fondly” remember; It was decided that in order to show that in fact Shelly was finally dead, they needed to see her body parts separated. Thus the “body parts strewn on the floor” scene. They’d convinced me I needed to be nailed into the cabin floor, in full makeup, with contacts. I was completely petrified of the idea of not being able to see and have all that goo on my face and not being able to touch my face. Additionally, the idea of having spiders, snakes, rate etc. crawling around near my body was horrifying. They convinced me I’d be all right since Bruce and Teddy would also be down there too portraying one of my body parts scattered. I remained calm for a long period of time and then began asking when this would be over. No one answered! I then realized both Tim Philo(the DP) and Sam had fallen asleep!  After a lot of shouting and panic stricken screaming they awoke and released us from our grave. To this day I am disappointed in the shot itself, just a blink of an eye really when you think of the trouble we went through to shoot it.

SWCP: You are also a voice-over. Is there any iconic character that you would like to play?
T.T: I loved being the first female announcer for the ESPY awards and announced many hit TV series my favorite being the voice of the funeral home commercial on “Six Feet Under”. However, since my daughter went off to college I decided to get back on stage and its been so much fun.
Right now I’m in a play in Hollywood called Private Eyes playing the role of Frank! I just finished shooting a Big-Foot movie in North Carolina where they tell me Big-Foot resides- hope to see that out next year it’s called “Stomping Ground” directed by Dan Rieser. I also have a supporting role in a romantic comedy directed by Michael Rosenbaum from (Smallville) coming out soon “Old Days”. And don’t let me forget “Oz the Great and the Powerful” where I had the time of my life on the set for about a month with the Great Sam Raimi again, bigger budget this time!! I also have several commercials running including a very funny Taco Bell where I am the mother who’s partied a little too hard at my daughter’s wedding!
SWCP: Tell us about the new TV Pilot Project "Dangerous Women “where you starring with other female leads from "Evil Dead".
T.T: The Dangerous Women series is looking for an ending! The other Ladies and I loved working together again. A dear friend and fan, David O’Malley wrote the pilot and we’re hoping the money and the “ending” comes through so we can finish it. The pilot currently lives on-line at:
SWCP: Are you a fan of horror movies?
T.T: I have tried to watch horror movies since I have become friends with many actors of that genre. But I really can’t take the scare! I know it sounds crazy but I do find it disturbing and have trouble sleeping! So mostly not, just to give you an idea of my movie taste; last year my favorite film we Amor-the French movie that was up for an Oscar!
SWCP: Would you like to leave a message for your fans?
T.T: I am thrilled that so many people are fans of the original Evil Dead! As I am sure you’ve heard, the 3 of us had no idea it was such a hit and so many people liked it. I didn’t even have it on my acting resume till about 8 years ago. I love being a part of this iconic movie and have such a blast meeting people all over the world and hearing their stories of how they discovered ED and how they love it. Thank you for your passion it has brought me a lot of joy!
