Entrevista SWCP: Rashmi Rustagi

Rashmi Rustagi é uma actriz nascida em Lucknow, India que trabalhou em diversos filmes, no teatro e na rádio. Recentemente participou no filme “Avengers”. 

SWCP: É verdade que actuar é a sua paixão desde os nove anos de idade? 

R.R: Sim. Comecei a actuar em peças de rádio na Índia (para toda a Rádio da Índia) com nove anos de idade e continuei em adulta até ter deixado a Índia aos 21 anos. Em adolescente, fiz teatro com alguns atores de teatro e rádio bem conhecidos e uma série de televisão que ainda volta por vezes a passar! 

SWCP: Cozinhar, é também uma das suas paixões, tendo inclusive um blogue com receitas suas. O que a levou a partilhar as suas receitas?  

R.R: O endereço do meu blogue é: http://www.rashmisrecipes.com .  Gosto de cozinhar e de entreter. Ocasionalmente apresento um festim Diwali onde cozinho 56 pratos vegetarianos (o último foi feito segundo a Mitologia Indiana) doces e salgados.

Algumas dessas receitas recriei com equipamento americano e outros ingredientes. Os meus amigos e a minha família, inclusive as minhas crianças e nora caucasiana, andam sempre a pedir-me essas receitas. Portanto comecei o blogue. Um produtor com quem trabalhei num par de filmes, ofereceu-se para fazer os vídeos dos meus cozinhados o que foi muito útil na explicação de alguns detalhes.

SWCP: Fale-nos um pouco acerca da sua participação no filme “Avengers”. 

R.R: Não tive os guiões da audição antes da mesma. Eles deram-mos quando cheguei e estavam em inglês e queriam que eu os traduzisse e os falasse em hindi o que não foi um problema. Depois disto, não ouvi falar mais nada durante um par de meses. Então recebi uma chamada e eles prepararam a minha viagem para Albuquerque NM.

Conheci o Mark Ruffalo e ajudei-o a pronunciar os seus diálogos em hindi. Os cenários eram assombrosos e toda a gente (elenco e produção) foi extremamente simpática comigo; era um cenário com centenas de extras das cenas de rua.

O Joss Whedon foi muito fixe e calmo e pareceu-me que ele estava completamente a divertir-se. 

SWCP: Que diferenças nota mais entre as produções de Bollywood e Hollywood?  

R.R: A grande diferença entre esses estúdios é que geralmente não recebemos os guiões a tempo.

SWCP: Que mensagem gostaria de enviar aos fãs? 

R.R: Há muito prazer em fazer-se aquilo que se ama. Siga a sua paixão!  Uma mensagem a escritores, produtores - por favor escrevam mais papéis multi-étnicos; as pessoas desejam ver actores com que se possam relacionar e identificar.

Rashmi Rustagi is an actress born in Lucknow,India,who worked in various movies,series,theater and radio.Recently,she participated in the movie `Avengers´.  

SWCP: Is it true that acting is your passion since the age of nine? 

R.R: Yes. I started acting for radio plays in India (for All India Radio) at the age of nine and continued as an adult until I left India at 21. As a teenager, I did theatre with some well known radio and theatre actors and a television serial which still replays sometimes! 

SWCP: Cooking is also one of your passions, where you have a blog with your recipes. What made you share your recipes? 

R.R: My blog address is www.rashmisrecipes.com. I love to cook and entertain. I occasionally host a Diwali feast where I cook 56 vegetarian dishes(the ultimate feast according to Indian Mythology), sweet and savory. Some of these recipes I have recreated with American equipment and ingredients and shortcuts. My friends and family, including my children and Caucasian daughter-in-law are always asking for these recipes. So I started the blog. A producer with whom I have worked on a couple of movies offered to make videos of my cooking which has been very helpful in explaining some of the details. 

SWCP: Tell us a little more about your participation in `Avengers´. 

R.R: I did not get the sides for the audition ahead of time. They gave it to me when I arrived and they were in English and they wanted me to translate and speak them in Hindi which was not a problem. After that I did not hear anything for a couple of months. Then I got a call and they set up the trip to Albuquerque NM. I got to meet Mark Ruffalo and helped him with the pronunciation of his Hindi lines. The set was amazing and all the people (cast and crew) extremely helpful; it was a huge set too with hundreds of extras for the street scenes. Joss Whedon was very cool and calm and just seemed to be enjoying himself thoroughly. 

SWCP: What differences do you note more between Bollywood and Hollywood productions? 

R.R: The big difference between Bollywood and Hollywood is that usually you do not get the script ahead of time. 

SWCP: Would you like to leave a message for your fans? 

R.R: There is so much pleasure in doing what you love. Follow your passion! A message to writers, producers and show runners- please write more multi ethnic roles; people crave to see actors they can relate to.
