Jameelah McMillan é uma atriz que foi a voz dos personagens: Rainha Neeyutnee,Mahtee Dunn,RO-Z67 e Halle Burtoni na série animada (CGI) Star Wars: Clone Wars.

SWCP:Fale-nos dos personagens que interpretou nesta série.

J.M: Bem, interpretei vários personagens diferentes na série junto nos últimos anos. Cada um foi extremamente diferente, mas igualmente divertido a criar. O personagem mais memorável para mim foi a Rainha Neeyutnee. Ela foi o primeiro personagem que interpretei na série e ela foi baseada num personagem atual da série do filme. No começo, eu sabia que esse papel estava destinado para mim. A minha agente enviou-me por correio eletrónico um soundbite do filme e perguntou-me se poderia falar com um acento universalmente ambíguo semelhante ao do personagem. Ela então disse-me que os produtores não tinham ainda a certeza do nome desse personagem mas estavam a considerar o nome 'Rainha Jamila'. Pensei, 'Jameelah, Jamila, é tudo o mesmo! Este personagem estava destinado a mim! '. Portanto a minha agente encaminhou-me para o departamento da Lucasfilm que estava a produzir a série e gravei a voz para quem ficaria depois a ser o personagem ' Rainha Neeyutnee'.Fiquei tão entusiasmada por estar no estúdio com os atores que faziam as vozes do Anakin Skywalker, Padme, e eu estava mesmo ao lado do Jar Jar Binks!

Os produtores gostaram tanto do personagem que me voltaram a chamar diversas vezes para desempenhar outros papéis, inclusive um personagem recorrente denominado Halle Burtoni, uma Senadora Kaminoan que discursa contra os Separatistas. Um dos personagens mais desafiantes foi a Mahtee Dunn, a mãe Rodian de jovem Jedi que tinha sido raptado. 

Tive de exprimir a emoção de uma mãe que tinha perdido a sua criança aderindo ao pedido do diretor para 'falar como um peixe' por causa da enrugada aparência dos lábios dos Rodianos. Outro personagem desafiante foi o RO-Z67, uma má ama-seca droid usada pelo Darth Sidious para controlar as crianças Jedi raptadas. A nota do diretor foi 'Faz um som tão claro e robótico enquanto possível, e acrescentaremos os efeitos de som de robô na pós-produção'. Como atriz, o som claro e robótico claramente que não faziam parte do meu vocabulário. É sempre o material mais simples que nos faz fracassar! Hahaha!

SWCP: O que pensa sobre a decisão do encerramento definitivo desta série?

J.M: Todas as boas coisas têm de terminar algum dia. Embora isto seja o fim de Star Wars: The Clone Wars, parece que com a nova sociedade da Disney com a Lucasfilm se possa criar algo novo e a excitante. Pelo que tenho ouvido, há uma possibilidade de uma nova série de Star Wars. Tanto a Disney como a Lucasfilm raramente desapontam, portanto eu estou curiosa e entusiasmada para ver o que esses dois Mega estúdios criativos farão com a sua 'força' combinada.

SWCP: Já era fã de Star Wars em criança?

J.M: SIM!Adorei Star Wars quando era ainda uma criança. Eu sempre enrolava o meu cabelo em dois carrapitos circulares como a Princesa Leia e reuni todas as crianças do meu prédio para encenarmos partes dos filmes. Lembro-me de ter chorado quando estava a sair do cinema para ver o filme ‘O Regresso do Jedi ´porque eu queria um Ewok e naturalmente a minha mãe não poderia arranjar um para mim. O meu irmão teve a Millenium Falcon, o Jabba the Hutt, e uma coleção de figuras de ação que deviam ter custado uma fortuna nesses tempos. Não eramos o suficiente abastados para podermos comprar os sabres de luz, portanto fazíamos os nossos próprios sabres com paus e folhas metálicas de alumínio. Bons tempos!

SWCP: Em que projetos está atualmente a trabalhar?

J.M: Recentemente regressei do Brasil onde estive a viver cerca de um ano. Sou agora mãe e esposa, portanto a minha vida é o projeto maior em que estou a trabalhar atualmente. Fomos há um mês atrás a Atlanta e irei reunir-me com o meu novo agente de voz esta semana. E agora já posso acrescentar o idioma português/ brasileiro ao meu resumo, veremos que novos projetos surgirão!

SWCP: Que mensagem gostaria de enviar aos fãs de Clone Wars?

J.M: Obrigado a todos por terem seguido a série. Foi uma honra tremenda ter feito parte dessa história e de ter ajudado a dar vida a alguns desses personagens. Espero que todos vós tenhais gostado de os ver tanto como eu gostei de os interpretar.

Jameelah McMillan is an actress who voices Queen Neeyutnee, Mahtee Dunn, RO-Z67 and Halle Burtoni in the CGI animated series Star Wars: Clone Wars.

SWCP: Tell us about your characters in Star Wars: Clone Wars.

J.M: Well, I played several different characters in the series over the past few years. Each one has been extremely different, but so much fun to create. The most memorable character for me was Queen Neeyutnee. She was the first character that I voiced for the series and she was based on an actual character from the film series. From the very beginning, I knew that the part was meant for me. My agent emailed me a sound bite from the film and asked if I could speak with a universally ambiguous accent similar to the character that was speaking. She then told me that the producers weren't sure what the character's name would be but they were considering "Queen Jamila". I thought, "Jameelah, Jamila, it's all the same! This character is meant for me!” So my agent sent me over to the group from Lucasfilm that was producing the series and I recorded the voice for who would later become "Queen Neeyutnee" on the spot! I was so excited to be in the studio with the actors voicing Anakin Skywalker, Padme, and I was standing next to Jar Jar Binks! The producers enjoyed the character so much that they would call me in again and again to play other roles, including a recurring character named Halle Burtoni, a Kaminoan Senator speaking out against the Separatists. One of the most challenging characters was Mahtee Dunn, the Rodian mother of a young Jedi that was kidnapped. I had to exude the emotion of a mother that had lost her child while adhering to the director's request to "talk like a fish" because of the pursed appearance of the Rodian lips. Another challenging character was the part of the RO-Z67, an evil nanny droid employed by Darth Sidious to monitor the kidnapped jedi children. The director's note was "sound as plain and robotic as possible, and we will add the robot sound effects in post production". As an actor, plain and robotic are just not in my vocabulary. It's always the simple stuff that trips us up! Hahaha!

SWCP: What do you think about the decision to finish this series?

J.M: All good things must come to an end. Although this is the end for Star Wars: The Clone Wars, it sounds as if Disney's new partnership with Lucasfilm will create something new and exciting. From what I've heard, there is a possibility of a new Star Wars series. Both Disney and Lucasfilm rarely disappoint, so I am excited to see what these two creative mega studios will come up with in their combined "force".

SWCP: Were you a fan of Star Wars as a kid?

J.M: YES!! I loved Star Wars as a kid. I would always wrap my hair in 2 buns like Princess Leia and round up all of the kids in my apartment complex to reenact parts from the films. I remember crying when I was leaving the theater after Return of the Jedi because I wanted a Ewok and of course my mother couldn't get one for me. My brother had the Millenium Falcon, Jabba the Hutt with pit, and an action figure collection that would probably be worth a fortune these days. We were never fortunate enough to get the light saber toys, so we would make our own out of sticks and aluminum foil. Good times!

SWCP: In which projects are you currently working?

J.M: I recently returned from a year living in Brazil. I am now a mother and wife, so my life is the biggest project that I am working on right now. We just relocated to Atlanta, GA one month ago and I will be meeting with my new voiceover agent this week. And now that I can add Brazilian Portuguese to my resume, we'll see what new projects turn up!

SWCP: Would you like to leave a message for the fans of Clone Wars series?

J.M: Thank you all so much for following the series. It was a tremendous honor to be part of history and help to breathe life into these characters. I hope that you all enjoyed watching them as much as I enjoyed creating them.
