Kevin Foster é um ator e duplo americano que participou em diversos filmes e séries televisivas como: Homem de Ferro,Jarhead,Star Trek:Enterprise,Buffy,Castle,entre outros.

SWCP: Foi o Indiana Jones no parque temático Disney MGM Studios.Como foi essa experiência?

K.F: Foi inacreditavelmente divertido. Foi como ser pago para me divertir. Aquela espetáculo foi a minha primeira audição. Fi-la no dia 23 de Outubro de 1993 e não consegui o emprego. Voltei novamente no dia 23 de Outubro de 1997, e finalmente consegui o trabalho. Foi ótimo, porque além de estar a fazer de duplo profissionalmente, fui capaz de continuar o treino enquanto trabalhava. A qualquer momento entre os espetáculos, podíamos ir para o palco e trabalhar em altas quedas, cama elástica, balançar, ou qualquer outro tipo de habilidades.

SWCP: Fale-nos do seu papel em `Homem de Ferro´. 

K.F: O meu papel no Homem de Ferro aconteceu porque eu tinha trabalhado com o coordenador de duplos, o Tom Harper, nos filmes Evolution e Old School.. Ele mandou-me fazer uma audição, e acabei por conseguir o papel. Foi uma grande experiência porque tive a oportunidade de atuar mais do que normalmente é permitido aos atores duplos. O Jon Favreau é formidável nesse aspeto. Ele é um diretor de atores porque ele veio da atuação. E o Robert Downey Júnior foi também formidável. Ele é brilhante na improvisação, e a cena foi inteiramente improvisada. As pessoas deveriam perguntar-me como é que a cena estava a decorrer para que resultasse, e eu não fazia a mínima ideia do que lhes haveria de dizer porque fizemo-la de tantas maneiras diferentes. O Jon indicava algumas linhas e ideias ao Robert e ao resto de nós ('nós' significava que era eu no assento traseiro, a Eileen Weissinger a conduzir, e o Garrett Noel ao lado do condutor), então o Robert surgiria com todo o tipo de material acrescentado. 

SWCP: Foi o Mr Hyde na Liga dos Cavalheiros Extraordinários. Foi difícil trabalhar com aquele enorme braço esquerdo?

K.F: SIM. Foi difícil quando tive um grande braço, e foi ainda mais difícil depois com dois. A imagem que você tem é a de um dia quando tive de fazer apenas uma filmagem onde um dos lados do Hyde vinha numa armação. Os dias realmente difíceis foram quando tive de vestir o traje completo e com a cabeça, a correr. O lado bom é que quando trabalhávamos fora no Inverno, enquanto todos os outros tinham frio, eu estava quente com o traje vestido. Foi um trabalho difícil mas também compensador porque trabalhei para trabalhar estreitamente com o Jason Flemyng (Jekyl) e com o Steve Norrington (realizador) para juntar as performances que eles queriam para o Hyde.

SWCP: Em que áreas gosta mais de atuar?

K.F: A parte favorita do meu trabalho é o aspeto criativo. Como mencionei anteriormente, trabalhando estreitamente com um ator e realizador é formidável porque de fato tive a noção de quando a realização termina. Quando você é um de trinta atores duplos que correm, são alvejados ou dinamitados, há pouca criatividade no nosso trabalho. A maior parte das vezes, você está tentando apenas fazê-lo parecer bem sem se lesionar.

SWCP: Que mensagem quer enviar aos seus fãs?

K.F: É ímpar. Normalmente não penso em mim como tendo fãs porque na maior parte do tempo, estou a voar pelo ecrã ou a ser morto rapidamente ou a desempenhar um pequeno papel de apoio. Mas direi a qualquer fã: Agradeço-lhes muito por apreciarem as partes mais subtis dos filmes e do trabalho das pessoas que não são normalmente assim tão reconhecidas. Além de todo o negócio e comoção do mundo dos filmes, realmente fazemos filmes para vocês, as pessoas que adoram filmes. Ficamos muito contentes com o público que aprecia o que os filmes lhes proporcionam.

Kevin Foster is an American actor and stuntman who participated in several movies and television series such as: Iron Man, Jarhead, Star Trek: Enterprise, Buffy and Castle. 

SWCP: You played Indiana Jones at Disney´s MGM Studios. How it was this experience?

K.F: It was incredibly fun. It was like getting paid to play. That show was the first thing I ever auditioned for. I auditioned on October 23, 1993 and didn't get the job. I auditioned again on October 23, 1997, and I finally got it. It was great because not only was I doing stunts professionally, but I was able to continue training while at work. At any time between shows we could go to the stage and work on high falls, trampoline, teeter board or other stunt related skills.

SWCP: Tell us about your role in `Iron Man´.

K.F: The role in Iron Man happened because I had worked with the stunt coordinator, Tom Harper, on Evolution and Old School. He sent me in to audition, and I ended up getting the role. It was a great experience because I was getting to act more than stunt people are usually allowed to. Jon Favreau is great that way. He's an actor's director because he comes from acting. And Robert Downey Jr. was great too. He is brilliant at improvisation, and the whole scene was essentially improved. People would ask me how the scene is going to turn out, and I had no idea what to tell them because we did it so many different ways. Jon would come to the hum v and throw lines and ideas out at Robert and the rest of us ("us" meaning myself in the back seat, Eileen Weissinger driving, and Garrett Noel in the front passenger seat), then Robert would come up with a whole bunch of added stuff, and we would just play off him.

SWCP: You played the role of Mr Hyde in `The League of Extraordinary Gentlemen´. Was it hard to work with that enormous left arm?

K.F: YES. It was hard when I had one big arm, and it was hard with two. The picture you have is from a day when I had to do just one shot where one side of Hyde comes into frame. The really hard days were when I was in the full suit with the head and running around. The good thing is that when we were working outside in the winter, everyone else was cold, but I was warm in the suit. It was a hard job but also rewarding because I got to work so closely with Jason Flemyng (Jekyl) and Steve Norrington (director) to bring together the performance they wanted for Hyde. 

SWCP: What part of your job do you like working more?

K.F: My favorite part of my job is the creative aspect. Like I mentioned, working closely with an actor and director is great because I actually have input on what the performance ends up being. When you're one of thirty stunt men running around getting shot or blown up, there's very little creativity that goes into that on the part of the stunt man. Mostly you're just trying to make it look good without getting hurt.

SWCP: Would you like to leave a message for your fans?

K.F: It's odd. I usually don't think of myself as having fans because so much of the time, I'm flying through the screen or getting killed quickly or playing a smaller supporting role. But I will say to any fans, Thank you so much for appreciating the more subtle parts of films and the jobs of people who are not usually recognized so much. Aside from all the business and hoopla of the movie business, we really do make movies for you, the people who just love movies. We get real joy out of an audience member going on the ride that the movie takes them on.
