Lavinia Postolache é uma atriz,modelo e produtora romena, conhecida por The Neon Demon (2016), April X e Coordinated Chain of Murders. Em Star Wars: Skeleton Crew (Episódio IV), ela desempenhou o papel de uma Guerreira Troik.
SWCP: Fale-nos um pouco acerca do seu trabalho na série Skeleton Crew.
L.P: A diretora de elenco Alessi Hartigan foi a responsável pelos atores de fundo de Skeleton Crew. Quando me candidatei, os papéis eram: criaturas em destaque, guerreiros altos com mandíbulas masculinas e o projeto foi listado sob um nome artístico. Senti que tinha de ser algo tão grande quanto Star Wars, a própria descrição: criaturas e guerreiros, o que mais pode ser, certo? Então inscrevi-me imediatamente e confiei que a Alessi me colocaria novamente num grande projeto!
O primeiro dia foi o encaixe para os trajes de Troik. Embora o projeto ainda fosse mantido em segredo de quase todos, era impossível não adivinhar, o figurino e os adereços eram absolutamente incrivelmente detalhados e criativos. O povo Troik tinha cores, tecidos e símbolos específicos do guarda-roupa.
Nos dois primeiros dias de filmagem,o meu papel foi proteger o clã Troik. Na primeira foto anexada, estou patrulhando a vila de barracas para garantir que todos estejam seguros. A tribo foi construída numa área seca fora de Los Angeles, eles criaram tudo, parecia incrível. Parecia que eu estava em um planeta diferente e algumas partes foram filmadas na tela azul para os efeitos visuais pesados, como a parte em que estou a escoltar Neel e Hayna, onde ela abre a arma dos "Velhos Tempos".
Nos dois dias seguintes, estávamos a filmar na base da milícia. Mais um lugar incrível construído do zero. O departamento de adereços e arte fez um trabalho fantástico.A minha cena era interpretar um dos guerreiros alinhados ao lado do general Strix interpretado por Mathieu Kassovitz (um ator/diretor incrível que sempre admirei e com quem tive prazer em trabalhar).
E o último dia no set foi o campo de batalha. Na primeira metade do dia, filmamos a preparação para a batalha, em posição de ataque e a minha cena terminou com as boas-vindas aos Eopies, enquanto o General Strix liberta as crianças de volta para o Jod. Um projeto tão especial do qual fiz parte! Tão orgulhosa de estar no set com Jon Watts, Jon Favreau, The Daniels, Jude Law, Mathieu Kassovitz, Robert Timothy Smith e Hala Finley. Pessoas muito fixes para trabalhar!Aprendi muito!
SWCP: Já era fã de Star Wars antes de trabalhar nesta série? Tem algum personagem ou filme favorito?
L.P: Sim, O Império Contra-Ataca é o meu filme favorito.
SWCP: Você criou a produtora Lavi Star.Conte-nos algo sobre esta empresa.
L.P: Mudei-me para Los Angeles há quinze anos, e para aqueles que se mudam para cá sem um agente forte, sem uma rede ou projetos a bordo, devo dizer que apertem os cintos, não é fácil. Muitos atores acham que a melhor maneira de fazer isso é fazendo muitas aulas de atuação e praticando mais.
A realidade é que, se você não tem um agente de ponta, para o que você se prepara, você não tem audições e um agente de ponta só representa atores que já são conhecidos.
Eu tentei com filmes de estudantes, filmes independentes, alguns eram bons e outros não, pode ser uma perda de tempo, devido à falta de orçamento, pode levar anos até que um filme de baixo orçamento seja concluído. As pessoas acabam desistindo e seguindo em frente. Além de atuar, eu também era modelo e fiz toneladas de comerciais de TV em todo o mundo e, com o tempo, criei a minha própria rede, da equipa aos diretores e quase todos no set.
Durante a Covid eu estava a ter problemas no meu casamento, não nos dávamos mais bem e comecei a ler muitos roteiros, sempre senti que há tantos novos criativos por aí que deveriam ser vistos, então abri uma produtora de filmes Lavi Star LLC, para reconhecer novos cineastas. Logo após o meu divórcio, conheci a diretora de elenco Alessi Hartigan, que lida com atores de fundo para filmes de estúdio. Eu disse a mim mesma por que não, eu quero manter-me ocupada. O primeiro projeto que reservei através da Alessi foi Babylon, foi uma das melhores experiências no set, aprendi muito e conheci pessoas fascinantes, uma delas é Lukas Haas e ele está ligado a Pearl,o meu segundo filme que produzi recentemente.
SWCP: Já foi a representante da Roménia na Miss Mundo em 2010.Foi um impulso para enveredar posteriormente na sua carreira como atriz?
L.P: Desde criança que queria fazer parte da indústria cinematográfica, lembro-me que quando via a série animada, Tom & Jerry,ficava fascinada com o relacionamento deles,as suas reações exageradas, e a orquestra foi além de incrível.Os meus pais notaram a minha paixão e, como eu era uma sonhadora,o meu pai deu-me a alcunha de Lavi Star.Ser Miss Mundo Roménia, abriu muitas portas incluindo um visto americano, bolsa de estudos para escolas de cinema e crescimento pessoal, uma reflexão sobre a humanidade.
SWCP: Em que projetos está atualmente a trabalhar?
L.P: Enquanto filmava Skeleton Crew, conversei com o Mathieu Kassovitz, e estava a contar-lhe sobre a minha paixão pelo cinema e como estou comprometida em descobrir novos talentos, Mathieu então falou muito bem sobre Michel K. Parandi, um futuro diretor francês que estava cuidadosamente á espera que os seus roteiros fossem parar á equipa certa. Conheci Michel, li o seu roteiro, adorei e consegui produzir a minha primeira longa-metragem, April X, um thriller de ficção científica, atualmente em pós-produção. E estou tão orgulhosa de dizer que parece ótimo e mal posso esperar para que o mundo assista.A minha segunda longa-metragem,é um drama de ação, também em pós-produção, filmado no Texas logo após o término de April X. Ambos têm um elenco incrível, e não consigo expressar o quanto estou feliz por ter dois projetos extraordinários a chegar!
SWCP: Que mensagem gostaria de enviar aos fãs de Star Wars?
L.P: Adoro a citação do Yoda: Não tente. Faça ou não. Não há tentativa.

Lavinia Postolache is a Romanian actress,model and producer, known for The Neon Demon (2016), April X and Coordinated Chain of Murders. In Star Wars: Skeleton Crew (Episode IV), she played the role of a Troik Warrior.
SWCP: Tell us a little bit about your work on the Skeleton Crew show.
L.P: Casting Director Alessi Hartigan was in charge of the background actors for Skeleton Crew. When I applied, the roles were : featured creatures, featured tall warriors with masculine jaws and the project was listed under a stage name. I sensed it had to be something as big as the Star Wars, the description itself : creatures and warriors what else can it be, right? So I applied right away, and I trusted that Alessi would put me again in a great project!
Day one was the fitting for the Troik costumes. Although the project was still kept secret from almost everyone , it was impossible not to guess, the costume and props were absolutely incredibly detailed and creative. The Troik people had specific wardrobe colors, fabrics, and symbols.
The first two days of filming my role was to protect the Troik clan. In the first picture attached I am patrolling around the tent village to make sure everyone is safe. The tribe was built in a dry area outside LA, they created everything, it looked incredible. It felt like I was on a different planet and some parts were shot on the blue screen for the heavy visual effects, like the part when I am escorting Neel and Hayna, where she opens the weapon from the “Old Days” .
The next two days we were filming in the militia base. Another incredible place built from scratch. The props and art department did a fantastic job. My scene was playing one of the warriors lined up next to the general Strix played by Mathieu Kassovitz ( an incredible actor/director whom I have always admired and I had such a pleasure working with).
And the last day on set was the battle field. First half of the day we shot the prepping for the battle, in an attack position and my scene ended with welcoming the eopies, while General Strix releases the kids back to Jod. Such a special project to be part of! So proud to be on set with Jon Watts, Jon Favreau, The Daniels, Jude Law, Mathieu Kassovitz, Robert Timothy Smith and Hala Finley. Really nice people to work with! I've learned so much!
SWCP: Were you a Star Wars fan before you worked on this show? Do you have a favorite movie or character?
L.P: Yes, The Empire Strikes Back is my favorite movie.
SWCP: You created the production company Lavi Star. Tell us about this company.
L.P: I moved to LA 15 years ago, and for everyone who moves here without a strong agent, without a network or projects on board I must tell you BUCKLE UP, it is not easy. A lot of actors think the best way to make it is by taking a lot of acting classes and practicing more.
The reality is if you do not have a top agent, what do you prepare for, you don't have auditions, and a top agent only reps actors who are already known.
I've tried with student films, independent features, some were good and some not, it can be a waste of time, due to lack of budget, it can take years till a low budget film to be completed. People eventually give up and move on. Aside from acting, I was also modeling, and I got to do tons of worldwide TV commercials, and overtime I created my own network, from crew to directors to almost everyone on set.
During Covid I was having trouble in my marriage, we didn't get along anymore and I started reading a lot of scripts, I've always felt there are so many new creatives out there that should be seen, so I opened a film production company Lavi Star LLC, to recognize new filmmakers. Right after my divorce, I met casting director Alessi Hartigan, who handles background actors for studio films. I said to myself why not, I want to keep myself busy. The first project I booked through Alessi was Babylon, it was one of the best experiences on set, I've learned so much and met fascinating people, one of them is Lukas Haas and he is attached to Pearl, my second film I've recently produced.
SWCP: You were formerly Miss World Romania in 2010.Was it an impulse for you to embark on your career as an actress later?
L.P: Since I was a little kid, I wanted to be part of the film industry, I remember early on I was watching Tom & Jerry. I was fascinated with their relationship, their over the top reactions, and the orchestra was beyond incredible. My parents noted my passion and because I was such a dreamer my dad was calling me Lavi Star. Miss World Romania opened a lot of doors including US visa, film school scholarship and personal growth, a reflection on humanity.
SWCP: Can we find out what projects you are currently working on?
L.P: While filming on Skeleton Crew, I got to chat with Mathieu Kassovitz, and I was telling him about my passion for film and how committed I am to discover new talents, Mathieu then talked highly about Michel K. Parandi, an upcoming French director who was holding carefully his scripts for the right team. I met Michel, read his script, loved it, and I managed to produce my first feature film, April X, a sci-fi thriller, currently in post production. And I am so proud to say that it looks great and I can't wait for the world to watch it. My second feature, a drama action, also in post production, shot in Texas right after wrapping on April X. Both of them have an incredible cast, and I can't express how happy I am to have 2 extraordinary projects coming up!
SWCP: What message would you like to send to Star Wars fans?
L.P: I love Yoda's quote : Try not.Do or do not. There's no try.
