O que Roger Christian pesa da saudosa Carrie Fisher

Este é um texto copiado na íntegra e traduzido para português que o nosso membro honorário, Roger Christian( realizador,designer de produção e óscarizado pela academia pelo seu trabalho em Star Wars.Episódio IV) nos enviou sobre o falecimento da saudosa Carrie Fisher: 

Pediram-me na Televisão e na rádio para dar a minha opinião sobre a Carrie Fisher e este ano tremendamente devastador de perdas. Conheci a Carrie quando estava a falar com o 4º diretor assistente Peter Kohn, nas escadas que davam acesso ao escritório do George Lucas em Elstree. Tendo acabado de ver o George, Peter reteve-me no caminho para me contar uma história engraçada e como estávamo-nos a rir, uma voz timida perguntou: "Estão-se a rir de mim" Eu virei-me para ver se alguém estava a falar a sério, e vi uma jovem diante de mim que tinha um chapéu com flores ao redor da aba que o puxou para baixo na tentativa de se esconder sob um longo vestido que a fazia sentri que ele estava dizendo que eu não estava ali.“Não estamos a rirmo-nos de si” (respondi)” O Peter estava a contar-me uma história engraçada". Apresentei-me e perguntei se a poderia ajudar.

Ela disse "Eu sou a Carrie Fisher,e estou aqui para interpretar a Princesa Leia."Eu e o Peter dissemos: "Bem-vinda a Star Wars e vamos levá-la ao George".  Expliquei-lhe que o Peter estava lá para cuidar dos actores.

Eu nunca vou esquecer o momento e da forma  bastante indicativa da Carrie que conhecemos sobre o primeiro filme. Ela era intensamente privada e guardava tudo para si. Ela criou grandes ligações com o Harrison, Mark e George e logo saiu da casca quando estava com eles nos cenários, compartilhando momentos engraçados, mantendo uma leveza em relação ao caos negativo em torno da produção do filme.Ela ficou colada ao seu papel e fez cada cena memorável e para mim ela foi a primeira heroína de ficção científica, interpretando uma princesa resoluta e isto é a Leia. Ela abraçou não o biquíni metálico, mas a Leia acorrentada ao Jabba. Eu estava a dirigir a 2ª unidade em ´O Regresso de Jedi´ e parte da cena em que ela aparecia. Ela nunca realmente abraçou a ideia de ser vista como um símbolo sexual, isso simplesmente a deixava perplexa. 

A Carrie possuía uma inteligência e sagacidade profunda que saiu na sua escrita, na qual ela foi hábil e dedicada. Uma cena que eu dirigi em `A Ameaça Fantasma´ testemunha o seu talento. Eu filmei o momento quando o R2D2 encontra o C3P0 pela primeira vez na saga neste processo em que o Anakin ainda não tinha construído o C3PO na totalidade o R2D2 apita e  o C3P0 diz:

"Nu, o que você quer dizer nu?".

O R2D2 apita novamente e um chocado C3P0 diz:

"As minhas peças estão à mostra... Oh"!

Foi a Carrie que escreveu essa pequena cena que o George não creditou e a Carrie foi tão pungente e espirituosa, era uma alegria para o filme.

A Carrie foi uma voz honesta e feroz contra o estigma que cerca a saúde mental, quando realmente não era elegante e nunca tinha medo de falar de si própria passou a lidar com isso e ajudou os outros,quer fosse  um fã desconhecido ou conhecido.O seu legado é naturalmente a princesa Leia, e ela nunca recuou, dizendo que o pequeno filme de ficção científica que ela fez para se divertir, enganou-a e transformou-a numa estrela global.Com um grande ego e sempre presente para os amigos e as pessoas com necessidades, o mundo perdeu um tesouro.

Para mim se a realeza realmente existisse em Hollywood a Carrie faria parte dela. Infelizmente perdida.

This is a text copied verbatim and translated into Portuguese that our Honorary Member, Roger Christian (Director, production designer and Award-winning  by the Academy for his work in Star Wars Episode IV ...) sent us about the death of the late Carrie Fisher:

I have been asked on television and radio to give my thoughts on Carrie Fisher and this tremendously devastating year of loss. I first met Carrie when I was speaking with 4th assistant director Peter Kohn on the stairs leading to George’s office in Elstree. Having just seen George, Peter stopped me on my way out to tell me a funny story and as we were laughing a vice timidly asked "are you laughing at me" I turned to see the question was serious, the young woman standing before me had a hat with flowers around the brim pulled down in an attempt to hide under and a long flowing dress that also felt like it was saying I'm not really here.

"No we aren't laughing at you, I replied, Peter here was telling me a funny story. I introduced myself and asked if I could help. She said "I'm Carrie Fisher, here to play Princess Leia."

We both said welcome to Star Wars and we will take you to George.  I explained to her that Peter was there to look after the actors.

I'll never forget the moment and in a way it was quite indicative of the Carrie we knew on that first film. She was intensely private, and did keep herself to herself. She bonded with Harrison, Mark and George, and soon came out of her shell when with them on set, sharing funny moments,  keeping a levity to the negative chaos surrounding the making of the film.

She got stuck in and made each scene memorable, and to me she was the first science fiction heroine played as a feisty princess and this is the Leia she embraced, not the bikini clad Leia chained to Jabba. I was directing 2nd Unit on Return of the Jedi and filmed part of the scene with her there. She never really embraced being seen as a sex symbol, it simply baffled her and wasn’t what she was ever aware of.

Carrie possessed an intelligence and deep wit that came out in her writing, at which she was skillful and dedicated. A scene I directed in Phantom Menace stands testament to her talent. I filmed the moment when R2D2 meets C3P0 for the very first time in the saga. C3P0 is in the process of being made by Anakin and doesn't yet have his gold outer skin built.

R2D2 beeps at him and C3P0 says

"naked, what do you mean naked".

R2D2 beeps again  and a shocked C3P0 says

" my parts are showing...Oh"!

Carrie wrote this little scene for George uncredited, and its so poignant and witty, was a joy to film and its all Carrie.

Carrie was a fiercely honest voice against the stigma surrounding mental health when it was really not fashionable to be so, and never afraid to speak of her own travails in dealing with it and helping others, whether an unknown fan or acquaintance. Her legacy is of course Princess Leia, and she never shied from it, saying the little science fiction film she made for fun, tricked her into being a global star. Egoless and always there for friends and people in need, the world has lost a treasure far too young.
