Ian Liston é um actor , produtor e director artístico sendo também o fundador da companhia "Hiss & Boo".Encarnou dois personagens no episódio V(O Império contra-ataca) de Star Wars:Wes Jason um piloto de Snowspeeder e um piloto de um AT-AT.

SWCP: curiosamente interpretou dois papéis como piloto:um rebelde e um ao serviço do Império.Gostaria de ter encarnado mais algum outro tipo de personagem?

I.L: fiquei muito feliz com os papéis que me foram atribuidos.Na época,juntamente com outros colegas,eu não tinha a idéia sobre como Star Wars se tornaria tão "grande".Como a maioria dos trabalhos,era apenas mais uma parte"em oferta"e eu não andei à procura desses papéis.As partes em questão não foram avisadas nem ouvidas em relação a uma quebra compreensiva dos personagens.

SWCP: fundou em 1977 a "Hiss & Boo"uma das maiores empresas de produção de pantomina e variedades.Foi contratado para trabalhar em SW através dessa empresa?

I.L: não,a "Hiss & Boo"só surgiu depois de eu ter entrado em SW.

SWCP: interpretou o personagem Mr Chairman mais de 3 mil vezes (!) em vários espectáculos da sua companhia.Ao fim de tanto tempo a encarnar esse personagem,ficou com alguma influência dele na sua vida real?

I.L: nem por isso.O personagem Mr Chairman(o presidente)é o papel central do espectáculo;ele saúda o público e serve de ligação entre todos os actos e artistas do show.Se o "personagem"não fôr "simpático"o show não funciona!

SWCP: gosta mais de produzir ou de actuar?

I.L: sinto-me muito feliz com ambas,é como se uma me desse uma pausa refrescante da outra.Em particular,sendo um actor significa que alguém tem de fazer todo o trabalho,de configurar o projecto e organizar tudo.Como actoreu só tenho de aprender as minhas falas e transformar-me a tempo.

SWCP: ouvimos dizer que o seu maior defeito é ser impaciente.É verdade?

I.L: isso é um pouco rude!quem disse isso?certamente que não aturo a estupidez e não sou muito entusiasmado com as pessoas com quem trabalho que têm um comportamento e perspectivas pouco profissionais.

SWCP: que mensagem gostaria de deixar aos fãs portugueses de Star Wars?

I.L: gostaria de desejar atodos em Portugal tudo de bom e boa sorte.Espero que continuem a disfrutar este notável filme (Star Wars) por muitos anos e que talvez um dia,eu possa ter a chance de vir a Portugal e conhecer alguns de voçês.

Ian Liston is an actor,producer and artistic director.He is also the founder of the artistic company "Hiss & Boo".Embodied two characters in episode V(Empire strikes back) of Star Wars:Wes Janson a Snow Speeder pilot,and a At-AT pilot.

SWCP:curiosly,you interpreted two pilots roles: a rebel one and the other an imperial pilot.Would you like to played some more different type of characters? I.L: I was quite happy with the roles I was offered. At the time, along with most other people, I had no idea about how ‘big’ the Star Wars films would become.Like most jobs, it was just another part ‘on offer’ and I didn’t go looking for the roles. The parts weren’t advertised to agnets and there was no comprehensive character breakdown. SWCP: you founded in 1977 the "Hiss & Boo",one of the largest artistic produtions company:pantomines,variety shows,etc.Were you hired to participate in Star Wars throught this company? I.L: No. Hiss & Boo came into existence AFTER I had worked on Star Wars. SWCP: have interpreted the character Mr chairman over than 3 thousand times(!) in various shows of your company,after so embodying this role so many times,you stayed with him some kind of influence in your real life? I.L: Not really. The “Mr Chairman” character is the pivotal role in the show. He welcomes the audience and links all the acts / artistes in the show.If the ‘character’ is not a ‘nice’ person, the show won’t work! SWCP: do you like more to producing or acting? I.L: I’m quite happy with either as one gives a refreshing break from the other. In particular, being an actor means that someone else has to do all the work setting up the project and organising everything. As an actor, I only have to learn the lines and turn up on time. SWCP: we heard that your biggest fault is being too impacient.Is that true? I.L: That’s a bit rude! Who said that? ☺ . I certainly don’t suffer fools gladly and I’m not very enthusiastic about people I work with who are unprofessional in behaviour and outlook. SWCP: would you like to leave a message for portuguese fans of Star Wars? I.L: I’d just like to wish everyone in Portugal all the very best of good fortune.I hope that you carry on enjoying the remarkable Star Wars films for many years to come and that perhaps one day I will get the chance to come to Portugal and meet some of you.
