Bridgett Riley é uma atriz/dupla e campeã mundial de Kickboxing que tem participado em diversos filmes, séries e comerciais como: A Ressaca,Invasão,Transformers,Rei Escorpião,Heroes e Power Rangers.


SWCP: Foi a dupla da Malin Akerman em `Watchmen´.Pode falar-nos um pouco acerca desse papel?

B.R: Rodámos este filme na bela cidade de Vancouver. Estive lá seis meses. Ele é realmente uma cidade assombrosa. Eu saía do meu apartamento, e observava as paisagens da cidade e pensava “ISTO É VERDADEIRO"? De fato foi magnífico. Fiz parte de uma equipa de atores/duplos inacreditavelmente talentosa dos Estados Unidos e trabalhei também ao lado de vários duplos do Canadá. Eles foram maravilhosos. Ajudei a treinar atores e a prepará-los tal como nas múltiplas lutas e cenas de duplos do filme. Fui a dupla da Malin Akerman. Executei o trabalho de arame, cenas de luta contra múltiplos oponentes, puxões de mãos, e truques em todas as partes da novela gráfica transformada em realidade pela visão única do Zack Snyder. Ele é um dos mais dinâmicos realizadores para quem tive o prazer de trabalhar. A Malin era extremamente ágil, atlética, e ansiosa para aprender. Foi um prazer estar com ela. Não é de admirar ela obter o êxito que tem com uma ética de trabalho como a dela.

SWCP: Foi campeã mundial de Kickboxing por cinco vezes. Como foi essa experiência?

B.R: Adorei cada minuto da minha longa carreira. Tive o privilégio de treinar e de ser treinada com alguns dos melhores no ramo. Você aprende como superar obstáculos e a pensar rapidamente com os seus pés em momentos muito quentes. Foi uma parte do meu arsenal de instrumentos de trabalho como dupla. Estou muito grata pelos fracassos que tive pois fizeram as vitórias parecerem muito mais doces!

SWCP: Como surgiu a alcunha “Baby Doll”?

B.R: Fui uma ginasta de competição quando era criança. E segui as pisadas do meu irmão no Karaté. Prosseguimos no karatê mas não conseguimos o suficiente para estarmos no circuito de torneios. O meu instrutor de artes marciais de então, deu-me a alcunha de 'babydoll'. Tinha 15 anos nessa altura. E essa alcunha permaneceu durante toda a minha carreira de luta profissional em ambas as categorias: Kickboxing e Boxe. Venci o título mundial de Boxe IFBA na categoria de pesos leves. Tinha gravado nas costas do meu robe 'Babydoll' .

SWCP: Fale-nos do projeto `Child Save´.

B.R: Quando fui convidada para me juntar à associação de mulheres-duplas profissionais V10, aprendi sobre o projeto `Salvem as Crianças´com a mulher que inicialmente me guiou neste grupo. Esta organização é legal. Eles encontram crianças raptadas que foram vendidas para escravidão em países estrangeiros. ASSOMBROSO! Senti-me muito emocionada pelo que essas pessoas fazem.

SWCP: Qual foi o papel que gostou mais de fazer como dupla?

B.R: Fiz uma cena de luta num filme chamado 'Serenity''. Fui a dupla da Summer Glau. A equipa de duplos com quem trabalhei era da pesada! O coordenador filmou a previ da luta e editou-a. Está nas demos do meu website. É a minha cena favorita.

SWCP: Gostaria de enviar alguma mensagem aos seus fãs?

B.R: Sim por favor.

Aprecio imenso todo o vosso apoio. Sinto-me grata pelo vosso respeito. Sinto-me honrada por estar numa posição que motiva e inspira pessoas de todos os lados da vida. Esforço-me por ser excelente e quero encorajar-vos a seguirem em frente nesta longa estrada. Os atalhos podem levar a resultados curtos. O fracasso pode motivar-vos à futura vitória quando colocado numa perspetiva positiva. Portanto não o receiem. E se vocês têm receio de vez em quando está tudo bem -desde que isso não vos deixe paralisados. Passem por cima disso. Isso é a VITÓRIA. Que Deus vos abençoe e vos proteja. Bridgett Riley is a stunt double, actress and a Kickboxing world champion, who participated in several films, series and commercials such as: The Hangover, The Invasion, Transformers, Scorpion King, Heroes and Power Rangers.

SWCP: You were the Mali Akerman´s double in `Watchmen’. Could you tell us a bit more about your role in this movie?

B.R: We shot this feature in beautiful Vancouver. I was there six months. It is truly an amazing city. I seriously would walk out of my apartment; look out at the scenic city tapestry in awe and think, IS THIS REAL? Indeed it was gorgeous. I was on a team of incredibly talented stunt people/doubles from the United States and worked along side several native stunt people from Canada. They were wonderful. I helped train actors and rehearse them as well as myself for the multiple fight and stunt scenes for the movie. I was Miss Malin Akerman's stunt double specifically. I performed wire work, fight scenes against multiple opponents, ratchets, hand pulls, and stunts throughout the graphic novel come to life under the unique vision of Mr. Zack Snyder. He is one of the most dynamic directors I've had the pleasure of working for. Malin was extremely agile, athletic, and eager to learn. She was a delight to be around. It is no wonder she has obtained the success she has with a work ethic as the one she owns.

SWCP: You were a world champion kickboxing for five times. How it was this experience?

B.R: Kick boxing is a LOT of work, yet rewarding in numerous ways. I loved every minute of my extensive career. I had the privilege of training under and with some of the best in the business. You learn how to overcome obstacles and think quickly on your feet in very heated moments. Kick boxing's apart of the package of my arsenal of tools for the work of stunt performing. I am grateful for the failures I've endured which made the victories all that much sweeter!

SWCP: How the nickname "Baby Doll “appeared?

B.R: I was a competitive gymnast as a child. I segwayed into karate following in my brother's footsteps. We dove into sport karate and couldn't get enough of the tournament circuit. My martial arts instructor at that time nick named me "baby doll." I was 15. It has stuck with me throughout my entire professional fight career in both the sports of Kick Boxing and Boxing. I went on from Kick Boxing to win the IFBA Bantam weight BOXING world title. "Baby doll" was on the back of my robe.

SWCP: Tell us about the `Child Save´ project.

B.R: When I was invited to join V10 Women's Stunt Professionals, I learned about PROJECT CHILD SAVE from the woman who initially motioned me into the select group. This organization is legit. They find abducted children sold to slavery in foreign countries. AMAZING!!! I personally have been touched by what these people do.

SWCP: What was the role that you liked playing more as a stuntwoman?

B.R: I did a fight scene in a movie called "Serenity." I was Miss Summer Glau's stunt double. The stunt team I worked with ROCK!!! The coordinator shot the pre-vis of the fight and edited it and it's on my demo reel. It's my favorite.

SWCP: Would you like to leave a message for your fans?

B.R: Yes please. I appreciate all of your support so much. I am grateful for your respect. I feel honored to be in a position to motivate and inspire folks from all walks of life. I strive to be excellent and I want to encourage you to go ahead and take the long route. Short cuts can lead to short results. Failure can motivate you to future victory when placed in a positive perspective. So don't be afraid of it. And if you are afraid from time to time, that's ok to - as long as you don't let it paralyze you. Move THROUGH it. That's VICTORY. May God bless you and keep you. It's cool to help each other.
