Entrevistas SWCP: Barbara Goodson

Eu cresci a ver o filme a preto e branco `O Lobisomem´. Inspirei-me no seu papel... E felizmente o George Lucas aprovou!

B.G: O treinamento e a capacidade têm sempre a máxima importância.

English Version:

Barbara Goodson is an American actress known mostly for her versatility in voicing original cartoons. She was the voice of Mother Talzin on Star Wars: Clone Wars (CGI).

SWCP: Tell us a bit more about your work on Star Wars: Clone Wars.

B.G: I had gotten the audition through my agency AVO Talent. It said something like “Russian or Rumanian type witch voice preferred". I had grown up watching the black and white movie The Wolf Man. A fabulous Russian actor named Maria Ouspensk who played the fortune teller and she was always in my memory for that kind of role. I drew from her ... and happily George Lucas approved!

SWCP: You were voted as the one of the ten best women to do voices of young males on cartoons. Do you think that the vocal feminine insignia is the ideal for this type of characters or is some skill and vocal training necessary?

B.G: Always skill and training are of utmost importance. To be a voice actor is to be an actor first and foremost. My boy voices come from the cartoon boys I grew up hearing (like: Tom Terrific) and my own instincts and following what is asked for in the script. Sometimes it works for females to do the more cartoony boys but sometimes a real boy work s best. I have replaced "real" boy voices in some movies and that is the most challenging.

SWCP: You do also voices for video games. Did you already interpret any character of Star Wars in this area? If not, which one would you like to play?

B.G: Sadly, I have not gotten to play other characters. I would've liked to play Shmi Skywalker or any female warrior, evil character, mother, queen or boy!!

SWCP: Is that true that you became aware of your mimicry skills early, while imitating friends and family?

B.G: Yes. It kept them laughing which kept them happier and that was always my goal.

SWCP: In your opinion, which importance did Night Sisters in the plot of Clone Wars series?

B.G: The Night Sisters were a great addition to the storyline. It shows so much about the power of women as a tribe and the complexity of good and evil. I never saw Mother Talzin as evil. She was compromised as are many people in leadership roles who start off wanting to do the right thing. Too much power is tough to handle. Her Night Sisters were bonded with each other and with her. I loved the concept and only wish it would've continued. It was sad when they perished.

SWCP: Would you like to leave a message for your fans?

B.G: I am very honored to have been a part of this Star Wars/Clone Wars family and I so appreciate the acknowledgement I have received from the fans! Its way beyond anything I would've expected. Thank you from the bottom of my heart for making me feels that I contributed something of value!!
