Entrevistas SWCP: Hakeem Kae-Zim

Hakeem Kae-Zim é um ator britânico de origem nigeriana conhecido pelos seus papéis em filmes e séries como: Hotel Rwanda,24,Velas Negras, entre outros.

SWCP: No filme `Hotel Rwanda´interpretou o papel do vice-presidente da milícia Hutu no Ruanda, Georges Rutaganda.Já conhecia a história deste criminoso de guerra antes de interpretar esse papel?

H.K.Z: Eu fiz muita pesquisa sobre o papel e estudei muito o personagem. Vi as filmagens anteriores e li sobre ele para garantir que sabia tudo o que podia, então descobri muito sobre ele e o seu papel no genocídio.

SWCP: Fale-nos do seu personagem (Mr Scott) na série `Velas Negras´.

H.K.Z: O Mr Scott é um personagem fascinante, ele é um antigo escravo que agora é um homem livre, mas ainda trabalha para o seu dono anterior. Ele realmente ajuda a gerenciar as suas vidas e francamente, é o poder por trás do trono do seu mestre. 

SWCP: Tem sido também a voz de alguns personagens em vídeo jogos. Tem algum favorito?

H.K.Z: Nem por isso, todos eles foram realmente muito divertidos de fazer. Adoro fazer voz overs para jogos de vídeo e também para livros- áudio, ambos os são uma grande diversão. 

SWCP: A sua aprendizagem na Bristol Old Vic e posteriormente o seu trabalho na Royal Shakespeare Company,foram fundamentais para enveredar por uma carreira como ator profissional? 

H.K.Z:Certamente ajudaram a abrir portas e a dar-me oportunidades, mas eu não diria que foram fundamentais, especialmente hoje em dia com tantas outras formas para entrar nos media. Mas nessa época, foi uma ótima maneira de entrar na profissão... E eu gostei muito.

SWCP: Que mensagem quer enviar aos seus fãs?

H.K.Z: Um grande obrigado por todos vós me terem maravilhosamente apoiado e assistido aos meus trabalhos. Continuem a observar o meu trabalho, e verão mais coisas ainda melhores de mim.

Hakeem Kae-Zim is a British/Nigerian actor who is best known for his roles in several films and series such as: Hotel Rwanda, 24, Black Sails, among others.

SWCP: In feature film `Hotel Rwanda´you played the role of the vice-president of the Rwandan Hutu militia, Georges Rutaganda.Did you already know the history of this war criminal before you play this role? 

H.K.Z: I did a lot of research on the role and studied the character a lot. I looked at previous footage and read up on him to ensure I knew all I could, so I very much found out about him and his role in the genocide.

SWCP: Tell us about your character (Mr. Scott) on `Black Sails´ series.

H.K.Z: Mr. Scott is a really fascinating character; he is a former slave who is now a freeman, but still works for his previous master. He really helps to manage their lives and quite frankly is the power behind his master’s throne.

SWCP: You have been also the voice of several characters in video games. Do you have any of those characters as a favorite? 

H.K.Z: Not really, they were all really great fun to do. I love doing voice overs for video games and have also done audio books too, both of which are great fun. 

SWCP: Your training in the highly regarded Bristol Old Vic and soon the invitation to join the Royal Shakespeare Company, were they fundamental to get a career as a professional actor? 

H.K.Z: They certainly helped to open doors and give me opportunities, but I wouldn’t say they are fundamental, especially nowadays with so many other entries to get into media. But at the time it was a wonderful way to get into the profession and I enjoyed it very much.

SWCP: What message would you like to send for your fans?
