Voorhees em `Freddy vs Jason´.Tait está incluído no top 10 como um dos melhores
atores de criaturas em todo o mundo.
SWCP:
Fale-nos do seu papel em `Freddie vs Jason´.
D.T: Fiz o
teste várias vezes e eles disseram aos meus agentes, que estavam a considerar
em me contratar para o papel, então eu não tive mais notícias sobre isso
durante algum tempo e descobri que o Ken Kirzinger conseguiu o papel, porque
rodaram o filme no Canadá. Quando eles decidiram fazer as refilmagens do filme
em Los Angeles, contrataram-me para interpretar o Jason. Foi uma grande
experiência ter interpretado um personagem tão icónico e trabalhar com o
incrível Robert Englund (Freddy Kruger).
SWCP: Parece
que a sua família está talhada para a indústria do entretenimento; o seu avô,
foi um famoso compositor, o seu irmão Matthew,é um ator e a sua esposa é também
atriz e produtora. O que nos tem a dizer acerca disto?
D.T: Nunca
conheci o meu avô, ele morreu quando a minha mãe era jovem, mas ele era um
compositor da banda Harry Owens na década de 40 e 50.O meu irmão já não atua,
mas acho que ser um artista estava no meu sangue. A minha mãe era uma dançarina
profissional e eu sempre quis ser ator.A minha esposa Isabel Cueva, é uma atriz
muito talentosa e produtora também.
SWCP: Além
de ator,é também produtor. Em que projecto está actualmente a trabalhar nessa
área?
D.T: A minha
esposa e eu estamos a produzir um filme chamado Black Mesa. É um processo muito
difícil, fazer seu próprio filme. Tenho trabalhado noutros projetos, por isso
tem sido difícil ter tempo para trabalhar nisso. Produzir um filme leva-me a
ter de me concentrar só nele.
SWCP: Sendo
também um duplo, já alguma vez se lesionou com gravidade?
D.T: Eu
nunca me considerei um duplo. Sempre fui um atleta e ator. Alguns dos
personagens que interpretei foram muito físicos então eram considerados como
duplos, mas nunca procurei papéis de duplo tive algum interesse em fazer algo
perigoso.
SWCP: Tendo
vestido a pele de tantos personagens da ficção científica e cinema fantástico,
houve algum destes papéis que tenha tido maior dificuldade em interpretar?
D.T: O meu
personagem Abominog em `Cavaleiros de Badassdom´ foi provavelmente o mais
difícil. Este animal pesava mais de 130 quilos, tive de andar sobre palafitas e
estava cheio de animatronics. Eu não conseguia respirar bem, e não podia ver
bem, e toda vez que eu lutava com alguém,desiquilibráva-me e ficava sem fôlego.
Foi um personagem muito difícil de interpretar. Também interpretei o Godzilla
nos anúncios da Snickers que estava vinculada com o lançamento recente do filme
Godzilla.Este também era um traje muito pesado e foi muito desgastante fazer
esse personagem.
SWCP: Que
mensagem quer enviar aos seus fãs?
D.T: Obrigado

Douglas Tait, is an American actor and producer. Is
first notable role was as Jason Voorhees in the film `Freddy vs Jason´.Tait has
also been recognized as 4 th on a top ten list of best creature performers in
the world.
SWCP: Tell us about your role on Freddie vs. Jason.
D.T: I had gone in to audition several times and they
told my agents they were considering me, then I didn't hear anything for a
while and found out Ken Kirzinger got the role because they shot the film in
Canada. When they decided to do re-shoots on the film they did them in Los
Angeles so they hired me to play Jason. It was a great experience to play such
an iconic character and work with the amazing Robert Englund (Freddy Kruger).
SWCP: It seems that your family is dedicated to the
entertainment industry: Your grandfather was a famous composer, your brother
Matthew is an actor and your spouse is an actress and producer. What do you
have to say about this?
D.T: I never met my grandfather, he died when my mom
was young, but he was a composer with The Harry Owens Band in the 40s and 50s.
My brother no longer acts, but I think being an entertainer was in my blood. My
mom was a professional dancer and growing up I always wanted to be an actor. My
wife Isabel Cueva is a very talented actress and producer also.
SWCP: You´re also a producer. In which projects are
you currently working in this area?
D.T: My wife and I are producing a film called Black
Mesa. It's a long difficult process getting your own film made. I have been
working on other projects so it's been hard to take time out to work on that.
Producing a film takes all of your focus.
SWCP: Being also a stuntman, did you ever get
seriously injured?
D.T: I never considered myself a stuntman. I have
always been an actor and an athlete. Some of the characters I have played have
been very physical so they were considered a stunt, but I don't pursue stunts
or have any interest in doing anything dangerous.
SWCP: Having embodied so many characters of science
fiction and horror, were any of these roles that you had most difficulty to
play?
D.T: My Character Abominog in Knights of Badassdom was
probably the most difficult. This beast weighed over 130 pounds, was on stilts,
and was full of animatronics. I couldn't breathe well, I couldn't see well, and
every time I would fight someone it would take me off balance and make me out
of breath. It was a very hard character to play. I also played Godzilla in the
Snickers commercial tied in with the recent release of the Godzilla movie. This
was also a very heavy suit and was very exhausting to act in.
SWCP: Would you like to send a message for your fans?
