O Americano John Jackson Miller é um autor de ficção científica e comentador, mais conhecido pelo seu trabalho em Star Wars e na pesquisa pela circulação da história na banda desenhada.

SWCP: Qual foi a sua primeira publicação de Star Wars?

J.M: O primeiro romance de Star Wars que eu li foi `SPLINTER OF THE MIND'S EYE´.Quando ele saiu há muitos anos. Eu estava muito animado para ler uma nova aventura do Universo Star Wars. O primeiro que eu escrevi foi ´Star Wars: O Cavaleiro Errante’, há mais de 30 anos.

SWCP: Foi um escritor regular para Star Wars: Kinights of the Old Republic.Como foi essa experiência?

J.M: Foi muito divertido! É raro um único escritor fazer tantas edições de um livro de banda desenhada, e eu tenho que escrevê-lo do início ao fim. Fomos capazes de contar algo de histórias muito longas com sub-dramas que durou anos. 

SWCP: Pode fazer-nos um breve resumo acerca do recente livro Star Wars: A New Dawn,que será lançado em Setembro pela Random House/Del Rey?

J.M: New Dawn(Um novo amanhecer) é definido por vários anos após o episódio III e vários anos antes do início da série de TV S.W Rebels. Descreve como o Império consolida o seu poder — e segue as aventuras de Kanan Jarrus, da série de rebeldes, e de como ele tenta se esconder do Império e não se envolver em mais problemas. Mas então ele encontra a Hera, que é a esperança de começar uma rebelião — e ele também colide com uma instigadora chamada Skelly quem lhe causa muitos problemas. Em pouco tempo, Kanan é preso numa acção contra o Império da qual nunca teve a intenção de participar.

É um livro divertido e destaca uma parte do cronograma de Star Wars que tem sido raramente visto.

SWCP: Que projectos relacionados com Star Wars tem previstos para o futuro?  

J.M: `Um novo amanhecer´ é a principal para o presente, embora a brochura de lançamento do meu romance `KENOBI´ esteja acontecendo agora. Também escrevi o meu primeiro romance de STAR TREK, um livro da próxima geração chamado TAKEDOWN, que será lançado em 27 de Janeiro pela editora Pocket Books. É uma história agradável, mas não saio de Star Wars, claro — é demasiado divertido!

SWCP: Que mensagem quer enviar aos fãs do seu trabalho?

The American John Jackson Miller, is a science fiction author, comic book writer and commentator, best known for his work on the Star Wars franchise and his research into comic book circulation history.  

SWCP: What was your first Star Wars novel? 

J.M: John Jackson Miller: The first Star Wars novel I read was SPLINTER OF THE MIND'S EYE, when it came out many years ago. I was very excited to read a new adventure in the Star Wars universe. The first one I wrote was STAR WARS: KNIGHT ERRANT, more than 30 years later.

SWCP: You were a regular writer of Star Wars: Knights of the Old Republic. How it was this experience?

J.M: It was a lot of fun! It is rare that a single writer does so many issues of a comic book, and I got to write it from start to finish. We were able to tell some very long stories with subplots that lasted years. 

SWCP: Could you give us a brief summary about your new hardcover adult novel Star Wars: A new dawn, release this September from Random House/Del Rey?

J.M: A New Dawn is set several years after Episode III and several years before the start of the Rebels TV series. It describes how the Empire consolidates its power — and it follows the adventures of Kanan Jarrus, from the Rebels series, as he tries to hide from the Empire and not get involved in any more troubles. But then he meets Hera, who is hopeful of starting a rebellion — and he also collides with an instigator named Skelly who causes him many  

problems. Before long, Kanan is caught up in an action against the Empire that he never intended to take. It is a fun book, and it highlights a part of the Star Wars timeline that has been seldom seen. 

SWCP: What Star Wars projects do you have planned for the future?

J.M: `A NEW DAWN´ is the main one for the present, though the paperback release of my `KENOBI´ novel is happening now. I also have written my first `STAR TREK´ novel, a Next Generation book called `TAKEDOWN´, which ships January 27 from Pocket Books. It is an enjoyable story but I am not leaving Star Wars, of course — it is too much fun!
