Entrevistas SWCP: David Shaugnessy

David Shaugnessy é um ator,produtor e encenador britânico que deu a voz aos personagens Comandante Cumberlayne Aresco,Miles Grint,Tsoklo e Stormtrooper na série de animação em CGI,Star Wars Rebels.

SWCP: Fale-nos do seu trabalho na série Star Wars Rebels.

D.S: Fiz uma audição sem realmente saber para o que era. Era tudo muito secreto!!!! Quando cheguei ao estúdio e percebi o que era e que iria interpretar dois personagens falando um com o outro, fiquei muito animado e esperei estar à altura do desafio! Era um grupo formidável de pessoas e o primeiro dia em que todos nós gravámos juntos. Nos outros dias, às vezes eu estava sozinho e às vezes apenas com uma ou duas pessoas. Sinto falta dessa experiência. Foi muito divertido.

SWCP: É fã de Star Wars?Tem algum personagem favorito?

D.S: Sou um fã. Curiosamente,estive no colégio de Drama em Inglaterra com a Carrie Fisher. Ela costumava encontrar-se connosco e com o Mark Hamill no nosso pub local, após um dia de filmagens da trilogia original. Eles ficaram fascinados pelos aspectos técnicos do filme e não podiam esperar para ver o resultado final após as gravações terem acabado. Acho que o meu personagem favorito será sempre o Obi-Wan-Kenobi!!!

SWCP: Foi membro de famosas companhias teatrais no Reino Unido. Quer destacar alguma peça em que tenha participado?

D.S: Provavelmente de produções que ninguém ouviu falr, mas participei em "Hamlet" com o Sir Derek Jacobi e em "Saint Joan," com a Dame Eileen Atkins no Old Vic em Londres e em todo o mundo. E muitas outras produções. Adoro fazer teatro!

SWCP: Foi director em Teatro e Televisão, tendo ultimamente sido também produtor executivo. Em qual destas funções gosta mais de trabalhar?

D.S: Serei sempre e principalmente, um ator. Que é onde está o meu coração. Eu fiz e desfrutei de um dos mais seguros trabalhos por trás das câmaras, mas por satisfação... Actuando, sempre!

SWCP: Qual foi o personagem mais difícil de interpretar na sua carreira como ator vocal para filmes,animação,videojogos,etc?

D.S: Acho que os livros-áudio que gravei são os mais difíceis. Eu recentemente terminei um romance histórico chamado "Messias: amor, música & malícia num momento de Handel," e foi cansativo. Já fiz cerca de 35 vozes de personagens, que eu tive de memorizar e acompanhar a parte sonora enquanto lia. Também foi um livro muito longo! Mas o resultado foi muito gratificante.

SWCP: Que mensagem quer enviar aos fãs de Star Wars?

D.S: Só para dizer que continuem a assistir à série e obrigado por serem tão solidários com ela!

David Shaughnessy is a British actor, theatre director and producer, who voiced the characters Commandant Cumberlayne Aresco,Miles Grint,Tsoklo and Stormtrooper on Television show, Star Wars Rebels. 

SWCP: Tell us about your work on the Television show,Star Wars Rebels.

D.S: I auditioned without really knowing what it was for. It was all very secret!! When I got to the studio and realized what it was and that I would be doing two characters talking to each other, I was very excited and up to the challenge! It was a great group of people and the first day we all recorded together. The other days, sometimes I was alone and sometimes just with one or two other people. I miss the experience. It was a lot of fun.

SWCP: Are you a Star Wars fan? Do you have any favorite character?

D.S: I am a fan. Interestingly, I was at Drama college in England with Carrie Fisher. She used to come and meet us at our local pub, with Mark Hamill, after a day of shooting the original trilogy. They were fascinated by the technical aspects of the movie and couldn't wait to see what it looked like once it was finished. I think my favorite character will always be Obi-Wan-Kenobi!!!

SWCP: You were a member of famous British theatre companies. Do you want to highlight any play in which you participated?

D.S: Probably productions no one has heard of but I was in Sir Derek Jacobi's "Hamlet" and Dame Eileen Atkins's "Saint Joan," at the Old Vic in London and around the world. And numerous others productions. I love doing theatre! 

 

SWCP: You are a theatre and Television director, having recently been also executive producer. In which of these functions do you like to work more?

D.S: I will always be primarily, an actor. That is where my heart is. I did and do enjoy the more secure jobs behind the camera but for satisfaction...acting, every time! 

SWCP: What was the hardest character to play on your career as a voice-over artist for films, animation, video games, etc? 

 

D.S: I think the audio books I just recorded are the hardest. I recently completed an historical novel called "Messiah: Love, Music & Malice at a time of Handel," and it was exhausting. I had about 35 character voices I had to remember and keep track of as I read. It was a very long book also! But the result was very satisfying.
