Entrevistas SWCP: Billy MacLellan

O ator e realizador Canadiano Billy MacLellan,tem trabalhado em diversos filmes e séries televisivas como: Defiance(3ª temporada),Mutação assassina,Nikita,entre outros.

SWCP: Fale-nos do seu trabalho e personagem em `Defiance´.

 B.M: Bebe é um Indogene com uma pele humana por cima. Os Indogene tomadores de formas (Shapetakers) desenvolveram-se pouco antes de os Votans terem deixado a Terra. Os primeiros modelos foram enviados a bordo das arcas Omec para sabotarem os seus motores e impedir os Omec de atingirem a Terra.O Tenente Bebe representa uma nova raça de Shapetakers-mais rápidos a se transformarem e mais difíceis de detectar. Eventualmente o meu personagem usa tecnologia para se transformar completamente em humano, num esforço para se infiltrar na cidade de Defiance. "Toda a gente me faz a mesma pergunta quando viram as próteses do Bebe: "Quanto tempo levou?" Três a quatro horas, que eu diria, e depois o guarda-roupa e o cabelo. E eles sempre reagiriam com um olhar de piedade. Eu adorei. Para uma criança que cresceu a ver o Freddy e o Jason, ficando com a gente no trailer das próteses foi muito divertido. Sinto-me grato ao fazê-lo. Às vezes era um pouco desconfortável depois de usá-la durante dez horas, mas eu sempre gostei do que disse o George Clooney sobre a fantasia do Batman,A Oprah Winfrey perguntou-lhe sobre como é desconfortável o seu traje,e ele respondeu:"No final do dia, posso ser um super-herói e não é não é de mineração de carvão”.

 SWCP: É também cinematógrafo e escritor.Em que projetos está atualmente a trabalhar nessas áreas?

 B.M: O último projeto que eu escrevi foi numa curta-metragem dirigida por Jana Stackhouse e Adrian Morphy,(Last Watch). Nela, dois policiais (Billy MacLellan & Arwen Humphreys) reacendem a sua parceria para caçar um assassino em série, antes que ele ataque de novo.

 SWCP: Participou na versão em série de televisão par o canal SYFY, `12 Macacos´.Esta série procura seguir na íntegra a versão original do filme ou é uma continuação dos eventos seguintes a essa história?

 B.M: Em 12 macacos (a série),o viajante do tempo James Cole viaja a partir do ano 2043 até aos dias atuais para impedir o lançamento de um vírus mortal pela enigmática organização conhecida como "O exército dos 12 Macacos". Esse vírus, na linha do tempo original do Cole, causou a morte a 93,6% da população mundial. Eu interpreto o Rodell, um cientista que trabalha para a Spearhead.

 

 SWCP: É fã de Star Wars?Tem algum personagem favorito?

 B.M: Sim, sou um grande fã de Star Wars. E tenho um monte de personagens favoritos. Mas tenho uma afinidade especial por vários personagens secundários: Boba Fett pela sua discrição, Salacious Crumb pelo seu riso,e o Wicket o Ewok, porque ele é tão fofo.

 SWCP: Voltando a Defiance,se acontecesse o mesmo ao nosso planeta da série para a vida real,do que teria mais saudades?

 B.M: Acho que teria principalmente saudades da minha cidade natal, Cape Breton/Nova Escócia,no Canadá.

 SWCP: Que mensagem quer enviar aos seus fãs?

The Canadian actor and director Billy MacLellan,worked in several films and TV series such as : Defiance(season 3),Assassin mutation,Nikita,among others.

 SWCP: Tell us about your work and character on `Defiance´.

 B.M: Bebe is an Indogene with a human skin on top. Indogene shapetakers were developed shortly before the Votans left for Earth. The first models were sent aboard the Omec arks to sabotage their engines and prevent the Omec from ever reaching Earth.  Lieutenant Bebe represents a newer breed of shapetaker -- quicker to transform and harder to detect. Eventually my character uses technology to morph fully human in an effort to infiltrate the town of Defiance. "Everyone would approach me asking the same question when they saw Bebe’s prosthetics: “How long did that take?” Three to four hours I would tell them, then hair and wardrobe. And they would always react with a look of pity. I loved it. For a kid that grew up on Freddy and Jason, getting to hang with the folks in the prosthetic trailer was so much fun. I was grateful to do it. Sometimes it was a little uncomfortable after having it on for ten hours, but I always liked what George Clooney said about the Batman costume. Oprah Winfrey asked him about how uncomfortable the suit was, he replied, that at the end of the day, I get to be a superhero and it’s not coal mining."

SWCP: You´re also a cinematographer and a writer.In which projects are you currently working in this areas?

B.M: The last project that I wrote on was a short film directed by Jana Stackhouse and Adrian Morphy,"Last Watch". In it, two cops (Billy MacLellan & Arwen Humphreys) rekindle their partnership to hunt down a serial killer before he strikes again. 

 SWCP: You participated on the television´s version of `12 Monkeys´.This show seeks to follow the original version of the film or is a continuation of the following events from this story?

 B.M: In 12 Monkeys the series, Time traveler James Cole travels from the year 2043 to the present day to stop the release of a deadly virus by the enigmatic organization known as "The Army of the Twelve Monkeys". That virus, in Cole's original timeline, caused the death of 93.6% of the world population. I play Rodell, a scientist that works for Spearhead.

SWCP: Are you a Star Wars fan? Do you have a favorite character?

 B.M: Yes, I am a huge Star Wars fan. I have a bunch of favourite characters. I have an affinity for a lot of the smaller characters: Boba Fett for his stealth, Salacious Crumb for his laugh, Wicket the Ewok because he is so cute.

SWCP: Back to Defiance,if it did happen the same thing to our planet in the real life,than you´d miss most?

 B.M: I think that I would miss my hometown the most, Cape Breton, Nova Scotia, Canada.
