Entrevistas SWCP: Philip Anthony Rodriguez

O ator e realizador americano Philip Anthony Rodriguez,tem participado em diversos filmes e séries de televisão, assim como em videojogos (como ator vocal).

SWCP: Interpretou o papel do Marcus Rispoli na série `Grimm´.Fale-nos um pouco sobre o seu papel nesta série. 

P.A.R: O Marcus Rispoli trabalha para a família real e para o Príncipe Victor. Ele é um guarda-costas, ex-militar... E um agente bem treinado para a família real. Ele é leal à família e fará tudo o que puder para se certificar que cumprirá a sua missão sem falhas e a qualquer custo. Ele é inteligente, pode ser implacável e está sempre impecavelmente vestido, lol! Eu realmente sinto-me honrado por retratar esse papel numa série fantástica e popular como Grimm. Às vezes interpretar um bandido pode ser muito mais divertido do que interpretar um bom tipo. Vamos esperar para ver o Sr. Rispoli continuar a ser "mau como é"!

SWCP: Participou recentemente na nova série da Fox `Gang Related´ no papel do Billy Cabrera.Como foi essa experiência?

P.A.R: `Gang Related´ foi uma série fantástica para trabalhar! Foi uma corajosa e muitas vezes violenta história como é a vida real dos gangues e a aplicação da lei dos agentes que vão atrás deles. Mas também tem uma grande dose de compaixão. Especialmente quando é dirigida a ideia da família... E como os parentes se ajudam uns aos outros... Não importa as circunstâncias. Tinha um elenco incrivelmente talentoso. E interpretar um agente federal disfarçado para se infiltrar na família do gangue foi um verdadeiro desafio e muito divertido!

SWCP: Tem sido a voz de diversos personagens em videojogos como Halo,Call of Duty,Metal Gear Rising,entre outros. Tem algum personagem favorito nesta área? 

P.A.R: Sim, tenho que dizer (já que você mencionou) o papel do Samuel

Rodrigues em Metal Gear: Revengeance. Quero dizer, quem não gostaria de interpretar um super fixe, Ninja ciborgue que é aparentemente imbatível? Esse e outro papel de um bandido! Estou sentindo um padrão aqui! LOL. Realmente, foi um verdadeiro deleite interpretar o Samuel. Eu sei que existem muitos fãs do jogo por aí que me irão enviar avatares que eles desenharam no Twitter e no Facebook.É realmente uma honra eles me retratarem como sendo o Samuel. E isso é tão curtido para mim!

SWCP: Fez parte da animação Star Wars 2.5: The pitch wars,realizada pelo Joe 

Towne.Fale-nos um pouco sobre esse projecto. 

P.A.R: Uau, isso foi uma coisa que eu fiz há alguns anos atrás. Quando o George Lucas estava a escrever as prequelas das trilogias de Star Wars. Alguns dos meus amigos e eu comentámos "não seria ótimo se nós fizéssemos um filme sobre o George Lucas, recebendo conselhos de alguns dos melhores diretores de Hollywood?" O que se seguiu foi um filme de animação com os gostos do Steven Spielberg, Spike Lee, Quentin Tarantino, Martin Scorsese e até mesmo dos irmãos Wachowski com ideias sobre o George. E o Sr. Lucas não ficou satisfeito com alguns desses conselhos. Eu fiz a voz de alguns dos realizadores. Foi um grande êxito, tendo sido apresentado em vários festivais de animação, sendo muito bem recebido. Tanto que até o próprio George Lucas pediu para ter uma visualização no seu mundialmente famoso Rancho Skywalker!

SWCP: Foi considerado em 2012 pela Latina Entertainment, como uma das 25 mais bonitas personalidades afro-latinas de Hollywood. Quer comentar eta escolha?

P.A.R: Para dizer a verdade, eu pensei que foi um pouco engraçado...mas também porreiro. Nunca me considerei "belo"! Mas o fato de estar na lista do Top 25 foi realmente uma honra. Fiquei realmente emocionado.

SWCP: Que mensagem quer enviar aos seus fãs?

P.A.R: Eu gostaria de dizer antes de mais, obrigado a todos por apoiarem o meu trabalho! Acho que é ótimo saber que o que eu faço é divertido para eles (os fãs) que realmente apreciam o que eu faço profissionalmente e nos meus tempos livres e eles estão sempre ansiosos para verem a minha próxima aventura... Qualquer que ela possa ser. Também gosto de saber que uma grande parte do meu sucesso é devido a eles. Especialmente quando eles compartilham a sua apreciação ao meu trabalho, amigos e família. Tomara que eu sempre lhes traga algo novo e surpreendente para desfrutarem!!!! MUITO obrigado, Paulo!

The American actor and director Philip Anthony Rodriguez, participated in several films, television shows and videogames.  

SWCP: You played the role of Marcus Rispoli on the TV show `Grimm ´.Please, tell us about your role. 

P.A.R: Marcus Rispoli works for Prince Victor and the Royal Family in the show.

He is an ex-military bodyguard, of sorts...and a well-trained operative for the family. He's loyal to the family and will do everything he can in his power to make sure he does their bidding--without fail--and at any cost. He's intelligent, can be ruthless and he is ALWAYS impeccably dressed, lol. I really am honored to portray this role on such a fantastic and popular series like Grimm. Sometimes playing a bad guy can be a LOT more fun than playing a good guy. Let's hope we get to see Mr. Rispoli continue to be his "bad self"!

SWCP: Recently, you worked on the new Fox show `Gang related´ in the role of Billy Cabrera. How it was this experience?

P.A.R: Gang Related was a fantastic show to work on! It was a gritty and often violent account of what REAL gang life is like and the law enforcement officials that go after them. But it also had a lot of heart. Especially when it addressed the idea of family…and how relatives stick with each other…no matter what the circumstances. It had an unbelievably talented cast. And playing a federal agent going undercover to infiltrate one of the gang's family members was a real challenge and so much fun!

SWCP: You have been the voice of several videogames characters: Halo, Call of duty, Metal gear rising, etc. Do you have any favorite character among those who you played? 

P.A.R: Yeah, I would have to say (since you mentioned it) the role of Samuel

Rodrigues in Metal Gear: Revengeance. I mean who wouldn't LOVE to play a super cool, cyborg ninja who is seemingly unbeatable?? THAT and I get to play another bad guy! I'm sensing a pattern here! LOL. Really though, it was a real treat playing Samuel. I know there are a lot of fans of the game out there that will send me avatars that they've drawn on Twitter and Facebook. It's just a real honor that they actually SEE me as being Samuel. And that is just so cool to me!

SWCP: You worked also in the animation Star Wars 2.5 Pitch Wars, directed by Joe Towne.Tell us a bit more about this project. 

P.A.R: Oh wow, this was something I did a few years back. When George Lucas was writing the Star Wars prequel trilogies. Some friends of mine and I got together and thought, "Wouldn't it be great if we did a film about George Lucas getting advice from some of Hollywood's top directors??" What followed was an animated film with the likes of Steven Spielberg, Spike Lee, Quentin Tarantino, Martin Scorsese and even the Wachowski Brothers chiming in with ideas for George. And Mr. Lucas is not pleased with some of the advice. I did voice impersonations of the directors and we had a blast filming it. It actually played in a lot of animation festival and was VERY well-received. SO much so that even George Lucas himself asked to have a viewing at his world famous Skywalker Ranch!

SWCP: In 2012, you were elected by Latina Magazine, as one of the 25 most beautiful personalities in Hollywood. Do you want to say something about this choice?

P.A.R: To tell you the truth, I thought it was a little funny--but also kinda cool. I've never considered myself "beautiful" per se! But the fact that I was listed as top 25 ANYTHING was truly an honor. I was actually very touched.

SWCP: What message would you like to send for your fans?

P.A.R: I'd like to say first and foremost, THANK YOU ALL for being so supportive of my work! I think it's great to know that what I do is entertaining to them and they really enjoy what I do, they're interested in what I do in my spare time and they're always looking forward to my next adventures…whatever they may be. I'd also like them to know that a HUGE part of my success is all due to them. Especially when they share their appreciation with of my work with friends and family. Let's just hope I can always bring them something new and amazing to enjoy!! :). Thank you SO much, Paulo!
