Attila Vajda é um ator,ex-basquetebolista e cantor húngaro que interpretou o papel do Wookie Sagwa em Solo: Uma história de Star Wars.

SWCP: Fale-nos do seu trabalho em Star Wars.

A.V: O meu trabalho em Star Wars começou em 2016, quando eu me inscrevi numa agência de casting em Londres. Duas semanas depois, fui convidado para participar em algumas audições.Fiz alguns movimentos de criaturas, triagem e medidas do meu corpo. Após três meses de tempo de espera, recebi a ligação para confirmar o meu papel e então foi quando descobri que era o do Sagwa.A confecção do traje começou logo após a chamada. Fui chamado regularmente para obter a forma desejada para o traje.Também tive algum treino com as equipas de duplos, VFX e criaturas ao longo de um período de tempo. Quando começaram as filmagens,foi uma experiência extremamente realista. Tantos detalhes... personagens, criaturas, as minas, a Millennium Falcon, a pressão durante a fuga,senti tudo muito realista, as explosões e a onda de tantas pessoas correndo, brigando e gritando. Eu realmente senti como se estivesse noutro planeta numa verdadeira guerra. Eu entendo por que Star Wars é uma das franquias mais apreciadas na indústria do cinema.

SWCP: Já era fã de Star Wars antes de participar neste filme?

A.V: Nunca acompanhei Star Wars como um fã, mas sempre admirei a criatividade dos diversos mundos, criaturas e personagens dos filmes de Star Wars. Era tão diferente em comparação com outros filmes que eu vi.

SWCP: Tem algum personagem favorito?

A.V: Não posso dizer que tenha especificamente um personagem favorito, mas lembro-me que quando vi o Episódio IV: Uma Nova Esperança,o Darth Vader é o personagem que eu gosto mais entre outros como o Han Solo, Luke Skywalker, Chewbacca, Lando Calrissian e muitos mais...

SWCP: Quais foram as maiores dificuldades que sentiu ao vestir o traje do Wookie Sagwa?

A.V: A principal dificuldade foi o facto de que era realmente quente dentro do traje, especialmente quando filmámos dentro das 'minas de Kessel'. Aprendi rapidamente que uma fantasia de Wookie é muito difícil de vestir mas confiei no fato de que eu tinha uma grande equipa em torno de mim, e eles fizeram um ótimo trabalho cuidando de mim. E também me apercebi de que o meu background desportivo já que fui um jogador de basquete profissional antes,também me ajudou na condição física.

SWCP: Foi convidado a participar na MCM Comic Con emLondres que decorreu em Outubro de 2018.Como foi essa experiência?

A.V: Tudo era novo para mim sobre a comic-con pois entrei recentemente na indústria do cinema, por isso era muita coisa para eu aprender. Foi um prazer ter a oportunidade de me conectar com os fãs e admirar a sua paixão por Star Wars, porque eles sabem muitos detalhes. Foi uma experiência incrível.

SWCP: Que mensagem gostaria de enviar aos fãs de Star Wars?

A.V: Aprendi que os fãs são o que realmente importa. Sem eles, não existiria a franquia e eu não teria a oportunidade de me conectar com pessoas de Portugal também e para mim, isso é incrível! Eu gostaria de enviar um caloroso olá para todos vós. O impacto dos fãs é tudo, por isso, tudo o que posso dizer é que a Força esteja convosco!

Attila Vajda is an actor, ex-basketball player and Hungarian singer who played the role of Wookie Sagwa in Solo: A Star Wars story. 

SWCP: Tell us about your work on Star Wars. 

A.V: My work on Star Wars started in 2016 when I signed up with a casting agency in London. Two weeks later, I was invited to take part on some auditions. I did some creature movement, body screening and body measurements. After three months waiting time, I got the call to confirm my role and then was when I found out it was for Sagwa. The costume fitting started shortly after the call. I was called in regularly to get the desired shape for the suit. I also had some training with the stunt, VFX and creature teams over a period of time. 

 When shootings started, It was an extremely realistic experience. So many details..characters,creatures,the mines, the Millennium Falcon, the pressure during the escape felt very realistic, the explosions and the wave of so many people running,fighting and screaming. I actually felt like I was on a different planet in a real war. I understand why Star Wars is one of the most appreciated franchises in the movie industry. 

SWCP:  Were you a Star Wars fan before taking part in this film? 

A.V: I never followed Star Wars as a fan, but I always admired the creativity of the diverse worlds, creatures and characters from Star Wars movies. It was so different compared to any other movies I've seen.

SWCP: Do you have a favorite character? 

A.V: I can't say that I have a specific favorite character but I remember I've seen episode IV, A New Hope and Darth Vader is the character I like among others like Han Solo, Luke Skywalker, Chewbacca, Lando Calrissian and many more… 

SWCP:  What were the major difficulties that you felt to wear the Wookie Sagwa´s costume? 

A.V: The main difficulty was the fact that it was really hot inside the suit, especially when we had the filming inside the 'spice mines of Kessel'. I learned quickly that a wookiee costume is a pretty tough one but I relied on the fact that I had a great team around me and they did a great job looking after me. I also relied on the fact that I have my sports background as I was a professional basketball player before and that also helped me regarding physical condition.

SWCP: You're invited to participate in MCM Londres Comic Con held in October 2018. How it was that experience?  

A.V: Everything was new for me regarding comic con as I am new in the film industry so it was allot for me to learn. I was pleased to have the chance to connect with the fans and I admire their passion for Star Wars because they know so many details. It was an amazing experience.

SWCP: What message would you like to send for Star Wars fans?  

A.V: I've learned that fans are the ones who really matter. Without them the franchise would not exist and I would not have the chance to connect with people from Portugal either and for me, this is amazing! I would like to say a warm hello to you guys. The impact of the fans is everything so all I can say is May The Force Be With You!
