Entrevistas SWCP: Tim Donaldson

 

O Americano Tim Donaldson interpretou o papel de um Jawa em Star Wars: Uma Nova Esperança com apenas cinco anos de idade,sendo na altura o mais jovem ator deste filme. 

 

SWCP: Como conseguiu o papel do Jawa em Star Wars (Episódio IV)?

T.D: O George Lucas veio à nossa escola e pediu oito crianças para um filme que ele estava a produzir.Fomos alinhados e medidos, e foram escolhidos oito de nós(Eu incluído) que tinham a altura correta para encarnar os Jawas da Tunísia. 

SWCP: Para uma criança com apenas cinco anos de idade,quais foram as maiores dificuldades que sentiu ao interpretar esse papel?

T.D: Lembro-me que os trajes eram muito pesados e claustrofóbicos.O  R2-D2 também era muito pesado para nós.Além disso, a cabeça dele continuava caindo.Mas foi finalmente filmado. 

SWCP: Foi o único papel que interpretou no cinema?

T.D:  Star Wars foi o meu único filme até agora.

SWCP: Que diferenças gostaria de destacar entre a primeira trilogia de Star Wars e os atuais filmes da saga?

T.D: Adoro todos os filmes de Star Wars!Acredito que todos se mantiveram fiéis à história.  Eles também ultrapassaram os limites da tecnologia atual para nos trazer totalmente para esse universo. 

SWCP: Tem participado em diversas convenções de ficção científica.O que gostaria de realçar sobre este tipo de eventos?

T.D:  A minha atividade nas convenções até agora foi limitada.Só participei em duas.Ambas foram uma experiência maravilhosa. É sempre incrível conhecer todos os que as frequentam.Fiz alguns amigos muito especiais.

SWCP: Que mensagem gostaria de enviar para os fãs de Star Wars?

T.D: Todos os fãs de Star Wars são incríveis e espero conhecer cada um de vocês. Facto engraçado:Falarei com qualquer um que esteja usando roupas de Star Wars. Adoro contar a minha história.

The American Tim Donaldson played the role of a Jawa in Star Wars: A New Hope at the age of five, being at the time,the youngest actor in this film. 

SWCP: How did you get the role of a Jawa in Star Wars (Episode IV)?

T.D:  George Lucas came to our school and asked to borrow 8 children for a movie he was producing.  We were lined up and measured, the 8 of us that were the correct height to match the Tunisia Jawa's were chosen. 

SWCP: For a child with only five years old, what were the biggest difficulties that you felt when playing this role?

T.D:  I remember that the costumes were very heavy and claustrophobic.  R2-D2 was also very heavy for us.  Plus, his head kept falling off.  It was finally taped on.

SWCP: Was that the only role you played in the movies? 

T.D: Star Wars was my only film to date.

SWCP:  What differences would you like to highlight between the first Star Wars trilogy and the current films in the saga? 

T.D: I love all the Star Wars movies!  I believe that they have all stayed true to the story line.  They have also pushed the boundaries of current technology to bring us fully into the universe. 

SWCP: You've been participating in a lot of science fiction conventions. What would you like to highlight about these kinds of events? 

T.D: My convention activity is limited.  Only two so far.  They have both been a wonderful experience. It is always amazing to meet everyone that attends. I have made some very special friends.

SWCP: What message would you like to send to Star Wars fans?  

T.D:  All Star Wars fans are awesome and I hope to meet every one of you. Fun fact, I will talk to anyone that is wearing Star Wars clothing. I love to tell my story.
