Entrevistas SWCP: Bentley Kalu

 

O ator britânico/americano Bentley Kalu tem trabalhado em projetos de longa-metragem e séries de televisão como: Doctor Who,Avengers Age of Ultron, Halo, Red 2, entre outros.Bem como comerciais, dobragens,projetos corporativos e musicais.

SWCP: Na série baseada no popular videojogo 'HALO',interpreta o papel do Vannak-134,um super-soldado Spartan-II.Já conhecia o jogo ou tentou saber algo mais sobre ele para se inspirar no seu personagem? 

B.K: Vi um pouco do jogo para ter uma noção do tom e ritmo, mas Vannak é um personagem recém-criado para a série, e eu tive o cuidado de não ser fortemente influenciado por outros Spartans I do jogo para que eu pudesse fazer a minha própria interpretação desse personagem.

SWCP: É também um ator vocal, tendo sido a voz de alguns personagens de videojogos como Star Wars: Battlefront II. É fã da saga Star Wars?Tem algum personagem favorito? 

B.K: Sim, sou fã de Star Wars e, claro, Han Solo é o meu favorito, com certeza. (Risos!). Ele é encantadoramente ousado! Quem não ama isso?

SWCP: Você tem uma voz natural, suave e profunda e é capaz de uma variedade de sotaques, incluindo Standard Americano, vários sotaques regionais americanos, africanos, indianos ocidentais, jamaicanos e sotaques britânicos. Consegue fazer o sotaque português?O que conhece de Portugal? 

B.K: Ha! Ha! Você me colocou no lugar. Tenho que ser honesto e dizer que nunca estive em Portugal. Mas numa nota mais brilhante e em minha defesa, Ronaldo é o meu jogador de futebol favorito. Isso conta para alguma coisa? (Sorriso)

SWCP: Sabemos que você é um ótimo cantor. Tem algum projeto em mente nessa área?

B.K: Você sabe que eu realmente adoro cantar. A coisa sobre cantar é o que leva um ator longe da sua zona de conforto. Gosto de ir em direção a coisas que me assustam. Quanto aos projetos, eu adoraria fazer um filme de animação musical como Moana. 

SWCP: Tendo trabalhado em tão variadas áreas, há alguma que ainda não tenha trabalhado, mas que gostaria de fazer? 

B.K: A única área em que eu adoraria trabalhar seria a comédia silenciosa de palco físico ou como mencionei antes, na animação musical.

SWCP: Que mensagem gostaria de enviar aos seus fãs? 

B.K: Aos meus fãs eu quero dizer do fundo do meu coração: Adoro-vos, eu vejo-vos e eu sou como vocês. Acontece que estou sob os holofotes e fazendo o que amo. Sigam os vossos sonhos e levem com amor e lógica sempre. Obrigado pela entrevista. (Sorriso)

 

ENGLISH VERSION: 

British/American actor Bentley Kalu has worked on feature film projects and television series such as Doctor Who, Avengers Age of Ultron, Halo, Red 2, among others. As well as commercials, voice over jobs, corporate and musical projects. 

SWCP: In the showtime series based on the popular video game 'HALO’, you play the role of Vannak-134, a Spartan-II super soldier. Did you know the game or tried to know anything more about it to get inspired by your character? 

B.K: I did look at the game briefly to get a sense of the tone and pace but Vannak being a newly created character for the series, I was careful not to be heavily influenced by other Spartans I the game so I could bring my own interpretation of him. 

SWCP: You are also a voice actor, having been the voice of some characters from video games such as Star Wars: Battlefront II.Are you a fan of the Star Wars saga? Do you have any favorite characters?  

B.K: Yes I am a fan of star wars and of course Han Solo is my favourite for sure. (Laugh!). He is charmingly daring! Who doesn't love that? 

SWCP: You have a natural, soft and deep voice and are capable of a variety of accents, including Standard American, various regional American accents, Africans, West Indians, Jamaicans and British accents. Can you do the Portuguese accent? What do you know about Portugal? 

B.K: Ha!Ha! You've put me on the spot. I have to be honest and say I've never being to Portugal. But on a brighter note and in my defense, Ronaldo is my favourite soccer player. Does that count for something? (Smile)  

SWCP: We know you're a great singer. Do you have any project in mind in that area? 

B.K: You know I really love singing. The thing about singing is that it takes an actor far out of his comfort zone. I like to go towards things that scare me. As far as projects, I would love to do a musical animation film like Moana.

SWCP: Having worked in such varied areas, is there one that you haven't worked with but would like to do?  

B.K: The one Area I would love to work in would be physical silent stage comedy or as I mentioned before the musical animation.

SWCP: What message would you like to send to your fans? 

B.K: To my fans I want to say from the bottom of my heart. I Love you, I see you and I am you. I just happen to be in the spotlight and doing what I love. Follow your dreams and lead with love and logic always. Thank you for the interview. (Smile)
