Entrevistas SWCP: Shane Hartline

 

Shane Hartline é um ator, escritor e comediante norte-americano.Os seus créditos de atuação incluem "Rock of Ages", "Station 19", "the Disney Channel Series "Stuck in the Middle", entre outros. Em "Star Wars: Obi Wan Kenobi", ele fez o papel de um Stormtrooper.  

SWCP: Conte-nos um pouco mais sobre O seu trabalho em Star Wars.  

S.H: Gravei o meu episódio durante três dias em maio de 2021, esta foi a primeira grande reserva que tive depois do Covid. Além de finalmente começar a trabalhar novamente, estar em STAR WARS foi realmente surreal. A propósito, provavelmente direi que também é muito surreal esta entrevista. Hahaha, hahaha! Quando consegui a audição para o papel,foi tudo muito secreto, simplesmente dizendo algo como "Top Secret Disney Project". Mas eu coloquei o meu chapéu de detetive e descobri quem era o diretor do elenco.Fiz algumas pesquisas e tinha a certeza que era para a Série Obi-Wan. Deixe-me reformular isso, eu rezei para que fosse para a série Obi-Wan. Fiz a minha fita, trabalhei duro e honestamente não pensei mais nisso até ter sido contratado algumas semanas depois.  

SWCP: Já era fã desta franquia antes de trabalhar na série? 

S.H: Sou fã de Star Wars desde que vi pela primeira vez por volta dos dez anos de idade. Lembro-me de ter recebido a trilogia em VHS quando a lançaram em 1996. Depois disso, comecei a pegar todos os brinquedos, joguei com Sombras do Império na N64, e assim por diante.Algumas das minhas maiores memórias são ver os filmes que seriam lançados nos anos que se seguiram nos cinemas com amigos e familiares. Lembro-me vividamente de ver cada um pela primeira vez, mais especificamente O Despertar da Força. Essa foi uma daquelas dez melhores experiências de cinema, foi especial. Saí naquela noite rezando para os "Deuses Atores" e todos os outros para fazer parte deste universo de alguma forma. Vários anos depois, isso se tornou realidade. O que será para sempre surreal para mim. Veja, lá estou eu de novo! 

SWCP: Desde os cinco anos de idade que você sofre de uma rara condição neurológica denominada "Disfonia espasmódica”. Que conselhos gostaria de dar aqueles que sofrem desta mesma doença e que gostariam de ter uma carreira como a sua? 

S.H: Eu nunca gosto de afirmar que sofro de Disfonia Espasmódica.Tenho, sim, mas há pessoas que têm casos muito piores do que eu. O meu ficou muito leve ao longo dos anos, mas ainda pode ser uma luta às vezes. Limita-me em algumas coisas, o que podem entrar na sua cabeça como ator às vezes quando podemos ter que dizer certas coisas de certas maneiras às vezes.  

Para minha sorte, não encontrei muitos casos em que as pessoas não foram pacientes com a minha condição e trabalharam comigo nisso. Tive muita sorte. Tive alguns casos em que os diretores não entendiam o que estava a acontecer e isso causou um problema, mas tem sido muito raro. Gostaria de poder voltar e explicar a eles a minha situação, mas o velho Shane simplesmente escreveu como, "Acho que estou resfriado". Agora, se alguém questiona, eu só digo a eles que é assim que eu falo... e se eu geralmente sou firme e confiante sobre isso a discussão termina logo. Cada tinta com cores diferentes, eu pinto com as minhas próprias. A minha voz é a minha voz e é isso que eu diria a qualquer um, que especificamente quer ser ator... Na maioria das vezes, as coisas que você acha que são bloqueios são realmente presentes. Use-os. Eles são o que fazem de você único. Com a Disfonia Espasmódica especificamente, eu descobri ao longo dos anos que quanto mais e mais eu faço coisas que me assustam, melhor a minha voz ficava.

SWCP: Você produziu centenas de horas de vídeo que vão desde esboços de comédia até longas-metragens. É nesta área artística que se sente mais á vontade?  

S.H: Faço conteúdos desde os dez anos de idade quando obtive a minha primeira câmera de vídeo. A câmera mudou um pouco ao longo dos anos, mas eu adoro criar. Comédia, videoclipes, longas-metragens e todos os tipos de géneros. Adoro a sensação de ter uma ideia e vê-la ganhar vida. Adoro ter amigos envolvidos e montar uma equipa. O objetivo final é o caminho de Adam Sandler, criar filmes e empregar todos os meus amigos talentosos.

SWCP: Em que projetos está atualmente a trabalhar? 

S.H: Atualmente, estou a escrever a minha primeira longa-metragem a solo, então espero que isso volte à vida no próximo ano ou dois. Além de fazer muito testes, espero que vocês me vejam nos vossos ecrãs mais cedo ou mais tarde.  

SWCP: Que mensagem gostaria de enviar aos fãs de Star Wars?  

S.H: Posso mandar uma mensagem para os fãs de Star Wars?! Isto é... Surreal. Acho que gostaria de agradecer o vosso apoio. É por vossa causa que o Universo Star Wars cresceu tanto assim, então nunca desistam disso porque acho que estamos apenas tendo um gostinho do que está por vir. Espero poder mergulhar de volta nele um dia. Talvez como um personagem sem máscara... Shane Hartline is an American actor, writer and comedian. His acting credits include "Rock of Ages," "Station 19," "the Disney Channel Series "Stuck in the Middle,"among others.In "Star Wars: Obi Wan Kenobi", he played the role of a Stormtrooper. 

SWCP: Tell us a bit more about your work on Star Wars. 

S.H: So I shot my episode over three days in May 2021, this was the first major booking I had after Covid. On top of FINALLY getting to work again it being STAR WARS was truly surreal.  By the way, I'll probably say surreal a lot in this interview.Hahaha! When I got the audition it was very secretive, simply saying something like "Top Secret Disney Project".  But I put on my detective hat, found out who the casting director was, did some research and I was PRETTY sure it was for the Obi-Wan Series. Let me rephrase that, I PRAYED it was for the Obi-Wan series. Did my tape, worked hard on it, and honestly forget about it when I found out that I booked it a few weeks later.  

SWCP: Were you a fan of this franchise before you worked on the show? 

S.H: I've been a fan of Star Wars since it was first introduced to me around the age of ten. I remember getting the trilogy on VHS when they released it in 1996 I believe. After that, I started getting all the toys, Shadows of the Empire on N64, and so on and so forth.  Some of my greatest memories are seeing the films that would release in the years that followed in the theaters with friends and family. I vividly remember seeing each one for the first time, most specifically The Force Awakens. That was one of those top ten movie-going experiences, it just felt special. I left that night PRAYING to the "Acting Gods" and all the other ones to be a part of this universe somehow.  Several years later, that became a reality. Which will forever be surreal to me. See, there it is again.

SWCP: Since the age of five you have suffered from a rare neurological condition called "spasmodic dysphonia". What advice would you like to give those who suffer from this same disease and who would like to have a career like yours?  

S.H: I never like to claim I suffer from Spasmodic Dysphonia.I have it, yes, but there are people that have FAR worse cases than I do.Mine has gotten very mild over the years, but still can be a struggle sometimes. It limits the pitches of things I can say, which can get in your head as an actor sometimes when we might have to say certain things in certain ways at times.  

Lucky for me I haven't run into many instances where people haven't been patient with my condition and worked with me on it. I’ve been very lucky.  I have had some instances though where directors didn't understand what was happening and it caused an issue, but that's been very rare.I wish I could go back and speak up and just explain to them my situation but the old Shane simply wrote it off as, "I think I just have a cold". Now if someone questions it, I just tell them this is how I speak ... and if I'm usually firm and confident about it the discussion ends there. Every paints with different colors, I paint with my own. My voice is my voice and that's what I'd tell anyone, that specifically wants to be an actor ... most of the time the things you think are roadblocks are actually gifts. Use them. They are what make you unique.  With Spasmodic Dysphonia specifically, I've found over the years the more and more I do things that scare me, the better my voice has gotten. 

SWCP: You have produced hundreds of hours of video ranging from silly comedy sketches all the way to feature films. Is it in this artistic area that you feel most comfortable? 

S.H: I've made content since I was ten years old and picked up my first video camera. The camera has changed a little bit over the years, but I just love to create. Comedy, music videos, feature films, and all kinds of genres. I love the feeling of having an idea and seeing it come to life. I love having friends involved and assembling a team. The end goal is the Adam Sandler path, create movies and employing all my talented friends.

SWCP: What projects are you currently working on? 

S.H: Currently, I'm writing my first solo-written feature film, so hopefully, that will come to life in the next year or two. Other than auditioning a lot so hopefully you guys will see me on your screens sooner rather than later.  

SWCP: What message would you like to send to Star Wars fans? 

S.H: I get to send a message to Star Wars fans?! That is ... surreal. I guess I'd want to say thank you for the support. It's because of you the Star Wars Universe has grown into what it has, so never give up on it because I think we're just getting a taste of what's to come. Hopefully, I get to dive back into it one day.Maybe as a character without a mask....
