Christopher Swindle é um ator de voz norte-americano que já trabalhou em anúncios publicitários nacionais, campanhas promocionais e papéis recorrentes em animações e videojogos. Podemos ouvi-lo na voz dos Dróides Da Polícia na nova série animada de sucesso da Lucasfilm, STAR WARS: MAUL – SHADOWLORD e em Star Wars: As Aventuras dos Jovens Jedi,nos papéis de Apexx/Sty Trune.

 

SWCP: Fale-nos um pouco sobre o seu trabalho em Star Wars.

C.S: Tive a enorme honra de me juntar oficialmente à família Star Wars quando fui escolhido para o elenco de Young Jedi Adventures, há alguns anos. Foi o meu trabalho nessa série que levou a Lucasfilm Animation a oferecer-me gentilmente um papel na sua nova série, Maul – Shadow Lord, na pele dos Dróides Policiais. Tem sido uma verdadeira emoção trabalhar com estas pessoas incrivelmente maravilhosas e apaixonadas, e espero poder colaborar mais vezes com elas!

 

 

SWCP: Já era fã de Star Wars antes de aceitar este papel? Tem algum personagem favorito?

C.S: Ah, sim! Estive lá desde o início. Vi o primeiro filme de Star Wars quando estreou nos cinemas em 1977 e fui colecionando alguns brinquedos e bonecos de ação ao longo dos anos. Eu era, e continuo a ser, o maior fã. É difícil escolher um personagem favorito, mas adoro o R2-D2 e o C3-PO. São os melhores andróides da galáxia!

 

SWCP: Por que é que a Disney Television Animation o considera um "canivete suíço" entre os dobradores?

C.S: Isso é muito engraçado e simpático. Um dia, um argumentista-chefe e produtor da Disney TV, chamou-me assim. Eles ficavam simplesmente contentes por poderem apresentar-me diferentes tipos de personagens, e eu dava o meu melhor para lhes dar vida, por vezes na hora e no momento. Mas é precisamente isso que fazemos, e faz parte do trabalho!

 

SWCP: Qual foi até agora o personagem mais difícil de interpretar?

C.S: O mais difícil de interpretar? Hmmm... De vez em quando, faço a correspondência de vozes. Às vezes, é muito difícil dar vida a uma personagem que já foi interpretada por outro ator e que, ou já não pode continuar a fazer a voz do papel, ou já faleceu. Recentemente, interpretei "The Big Guy" (Pai Natal) no novo especial de Natal da Disney, Prep and Landing, e espero ter prestado a melhor homenagem possível a William Morgan Sheppard. Ele já não está entre nós mas foi o Pai Natal original da série.

 

 

SWCP: Em que projetos está atualmente a trabalhar?

D.B: De momento, estou a trabalhar em alguns projetos. Um deles é um novo jogo de grande visibilidade, em parceria com a Disney. Vai dar bastante trabalho nas próximas semanas e estou muito entusiasmado por fazer parte deste projeto. Não posso revelar do que se trata, mas tenho a certeza de que todos vão ouvir falar dele em breve!

 

SWCP: Que mensagem gostaria de enviar aos seus fãs?

D.B: Ao Star Wars Club Portugal! Fiz parte do primeiro clube oficial de fãs de Star Wars na América e adorei cada momento. Quem me dera ter guardado os materiais físicos que o clube me enviou quando era criança, porque hoje seriam bastante valiosos! Lembro-me de quando nos enviaram um pequeno cartaz e outros materiais promocionais para O Regresso do Jedi. O filme ainda não tinha estreado e, inicialmente, chamava-se A Vingança do Jed. Enviaram algumas coisas impressas com esse título. Mais tarde, a Lucasfilm percebeu que os Jedi não se vingam, por isso mudaram o título para O Regresso do Jedi. Quem me dera ter guardado tudo! Christopher Swindle is an American voice actor who has been working in National Commercial, Promo campaigns, and recurring roles in Animation and Video Games. We can hear him as the POLICE DROIDS in the all-new hit Lucasfilm Animated Series, STAR WARS: MAUL – SHADOWLORD and in Star Wars: Young Jedi Adventures as Apexx/Sty Trune.

 

SWCP: Tell us a little bit about your work on Star Wars.

C.S: I had the absolute honor of officially joining the Star Wars family when I was cast in Young Jedi Adventures, a few years ago. It was my work on that show that prompted Lucasfilm Animation to kindly offer me a role in their new series, Maul – Shadow Lord, as the Police Droids. It’s been such a thrill to work with these incredibly wonderful and passionate folks and I hope to do more with them!

 

SWCP: Were you a Star Wars fan before you accepted this role? Do you have a favorite character?

C.S: Ah, yes! I was there from the beginning. I saw the first Star Wars film when it opened in theaters in 1977 and collected a few toys and action figures along the way. I was, and still am the biggest fan. Hard to pick a favorite character but I do love R2-D2 and C3-PO. Best droids in the galaxy!

 

SWCP: Why are you called by Disney Television Animation, a “Swiss Army Knife” of voice talent?

C.S:  That’s very funny and kind. I was called that one day by a head writer and producer at Disney TV. They were just happy that they could throw different kinds of characters at me, and I would do my best to bring them to life, sometimes on the spot and in the moment. But that’s just what we do, and part of the job!

 

SWCP: Which character has been the hardest to play so far?

C.S: The hardest to play? Hmmm... I do voice match from time to time. Sometimes, it’s very difficult to bring a character to life that’s been voiced previously by another actor and they are either no longer able to voice the role or have passed on, in life. I recently played “The Big Guy” (Santa), in the new Prep and Landing Disney holiday special and I do hope I honored William Morgan Sheppard, the best I could. He is no longer with us and was their original Santa.

 

SWCP: What projects are you currently working on?

F.T: Currently, I’m working on a few things. One of them is new, very high-profile Disney partnered game. It’s going to be quite a bit of work over the next few weeks and I’m thrilled to be a part of it. Can’t talk about what it is, but I’m sure folks will be hearing about it soon!

 

SWCP: What message would you like to send to your fans? 

F.T: To Star Wars Club Portugal! I was a part of the first official Star Wars fan club in America and I loved every minute of it. I wished that I had kept the physical materials sent to me from the club when I was a kid because they would be quite valuable! I remember when they sent us a small poster and other marketing materials for Return of the Jedi. It hadn’t released yet and it was originally called “REVENGE of the Jedi”. They sent a few things printed with that title on it. Later, Lucasfilm realized that Jedis don’t commit revenge so they changed it to RETURN of the Jedi. I sure wish I had kept everything!
