O actor Barrie Holland é já um veterano com mais de trinta anos de carreira na indústria cinematográfica,teatro e televisão,tendo já participado em mais de duzentos filmes.Participou em STARWARS no papel do Tenente Renz das forças imperiais no episódio VI.
O SWCP teve uma vez mais a honra de poder fazer uma entrevista em exclusivo,desta vez a este actor:
SWCP: Já trabalhou com o Harrison Ford em SW e Indiana Jones.É de facto contagiante trabalhar com ele?
BW: Foi um grande divertimento trabalhar com ele todos esses anos.O Harrison Ford é uma pessoa tranquila,privada e não é muito falador.Na última vez que falei com ele,foi nas filmagens de "A última cruzada" em 1987,há 22 anos atrás.
Quando fizemos o primeiro ensaio em "O Regresso de Jedi"em 1982,e eu lhe disse"Voçê é escumalha rebelde"!ele respondeu-me:"O que é que me chamou?" e galhofeiramente,esbofetiou ligeiramente a minha cara,dizendo algo como"Ninguém me chama isso"!
SWCP:Participou pela primeira vez na Jedicon em 2008.Como é participar em eventos deste tipo como actor convidado?
BW: É sempre divertido!considero-me muito feliz por sido convidado a assistir a esses eventos ao redor do mundo.Devo ter estado no "lugar certo à hora certa"todos estes anos atrás.Fui aos E.U.A,Japão,Alemanha,França,Bélgica,Holanda,Itáliae fui várias vezes a eventos em Inglaterra e Gales.Fiz muitos amigos nesses países e gosto sempre de conhecer novos fãs.
SWCP:A maior parte dos actores que entrevistámos,queixou-se principalmente das condições climatéricas onde foram rodadas algumas cenas de SW.Sentiu alguma dificuldade nas rodagens onde participou?
BW: Não,nunca tive problemas com isso,assim como em todo o trabalho que fiz em SW.Só em"O regresso de Jedi" a maior parte das cenas desse filme foram rodadas aqui em Inglaterra em grandes estúdios de som.Também não usei trajes pesados,como o meu traje era muito simples,foi como usar um fato;podia respirar normalmente,não suava e não fui fechado num traje claustrofóbico como a maior parte dos actores.Portanto,foi um papel fácil de desempenhar,usando um uniforme assim tão cómodo.
SWCP: Sabemos que foi modelo masculino durante trinta anos em sessões fotográficas e desfiles de moda.Onde se sente mais à vontade:na moda ou no cinema?
BW: Também me diverti muito nos meus dias de modelo...tive muitas amigas glamorosas,e também me deu muita confiança para trabalhar em frente às câmaras.Gostei dos desfiles de moda em que és uma parte da equipa com outros modelos,ao passo que com o lado fotográfico trabalhas muitas vezes sózinho.Isso foi muito útil para mim em anos posteriores quando comecei a trabalhar no cinema e na tv.Também me deu uma grande postura e ensinou-me como andar de modo adequado para que parecesse sempre bem.Ensinou-me a vestir de modo inteligente e a coordenar a roupa para me destacar sempre numa multidão.Penso que foi mais pretencioso do que nas filmagens;como havia muito mais gente implicada nas filmagens,não era o único centro das atenções.Gostei de toda a minha carreira.
SWCP: Com uma vasta carreira no cinema e televisão,concerteza que já trabalhou com inúmeros realizadores famosos.Com qual gostou mais de trabalhar?e porquê?
BW: Eu penso que os meus dois realizadores favoritos teriam de ser Steven Spielberg e mais tarde,o Richard Marquand.Eles foram muito profissionais e educados com os seus actores,muitas vezes com um grande sentido de humor.Trabalhei com o Richard duas vezes...uma delas foi em "O olho da agulha" e quatro vezes com o Steven Spielberg...todos os três filmes de "Indiana Jones" e no "Império do Sol".
Foi sempre um grande prazer ser dirigido por eles e os seus Sets eram sempre relaxantes para trabalhar,ao contrário de alguns realizadores que gritam aos actores se a cena correr mal.
SWCP: E para terminar,apesar de já ter representado vários personagens,acha que o Tenente Renz foi o mais popular?
BW: Parece que o Tenente Renz foi o mais popular por causa do vasto interesse que ainda perdura nestes dias por SW.Fiz muitas outras pequenas cenas das quais gostei,mas logo que menciono SW ,é a única coisa que qualquer fã quer falar.É assombroso o número de fãs em todo o mundo que adora SW.Se não fôsse pelo meu papel do personagem Tenente Renz,eu nunca tria ido a alguns lugares fantásticos e a países a que fui."A vida é estranha,não"?nunca pensei que naqueles anos todos atrás seria o primeiro mini-busto falante de qualquer actor de SW,que foi também o primeiro oficial imperial a ser feito em mini-busto...saíndo com uma foto assinada para os fãs que o compraram no website http://www.rebelscum.com/ nos E.U.A.
A foto foi também a primeira do género.Estou muito emocionado com esse mini-busto e tive de ir aos estúdios da Gentle Giant na Califórnia para ser scanneado digitalmente!isto foi graças ao Philip Wise da Rebel Scum que aproximou a LucasFilm com a ideia primeiro...e o resto como eles dizem,é história.Tive o prazer de conhecer e trabalhar com muitos actores e realizadores famosos durante quarenta anos e gostei de cada momento!

SWCP: Hello Barrie:heres the questions for the interview: You already worked with Harrison Ford in SW and Indiana Jones.It´s in fact pleasant to work with him?
BW: Hello Paulo
Here are my answers...
It was great fun all those years ago. Harrison Ford is a very quiet, private person and not very talkative. I last spoke to him on the set of 'The Last Crusade' in 1987 which is 22 years ago now. When we did the first rehearsal on 'Return of the Jedi' in 1982..and I said "You Rebel Scum"! he said, "What did you call me"? and playfully, slapped my face lightly, saying something like, "Nobody calls me that"!
SWCP: You participated for the first time in Jedicon in 2008.How is it to participate in events of this type as a guest actor?
BW: Great fun always! I consider myself very lucky to have been asked to attend these Shows around the World. I must have been in the 'right place at the right time' all of those years ago. I have been to America, Japan, Germany, France, Belgium, Holland, Italy, several times and have appeared at many Shows in England and Wales. I have made many new friends in these countries and I always enjoy meeting new Fans.
SWCP: Most of the actors that we interviewed,complained mainly about the climaterical conditions where some scenes of SW had been filmed.Did you felt any difficulty in the sets where you participated?
BW: No I have never had a problem with that as all of the work I did on 'Star Wars' (only 'Return of the Jedi') was filmed in the major Film Studios here in England on large Sound Stages. Also I wasn't in a heavy costume as my costume was an easy one, just like wearing a suit. I could breathe normally, I wasn't sweating and was not enclosed inside a claustrophobic costume like most of the Actors. So it was an easy role to play wearing such a comfortable uniform.
SWCP: We know that you were a masculine model during 30 years,for photographic sessions and fashion shows.Where you feel more to will? in fashion or in the cinema?
BW: I had a lot of fun also in my Modeling days...I had many glamorous girl-friends, it also gave you a lot of confidence to work in front of the Camera. I enjoyed the Fashion Shows as you were part of a team with other Models whereas with the Photographic side you were often alone. This was very helpful to me in later years when I did more work in Films and Television. It also gave you great posture and taught you how to walk properly so that you always looked good. It certainly taught me how to dress smartly and how to coordinate clothes so as always to stand out in a crowd. I think it was more pretentious than filming though. You could be more casual and relaxed on Filmsets...as there were a lot more people involved in the Filming and you weren't the only centre of attention. I enjoyed all of my career.
SWCP: With a vast career in the movies and television,certainly that you worked with innumerable famous producers and directors.With wich you more than liked to work?and why?
BW: I think two of my favourite Directors would have to be Steven Spielberg and the late Richard Marquand as they were both very professional and polite to their Actors, often with a great sense of humour. I worked with Richard twice ..once before on 'Eye of the Needle' and four times with Steven Spielberg...all three of the original 'Indiana Jones' movies...'Raiders of the Lost Ark', 'TheTemple of Doom,' 'The Last Crusade,' and on 'Empire of the Sun.' It was always a real pleasure to be directed by them and their sets were always relaxing to work on, unlike some Directors who shout and scream at the Actors, if the scene goes wrong.
SWCP: And for finish our interview,although already to have represented some characters,do you think that LT.Renz was the most popular?
BW: It would appear that Lt. Renz is the most popular because of the vast interest still to this day of the Star Wars Films. I did many other small parts which I enjoyed but as soon as I mention Star Wars that is the only thing any Fan ever wants to talk about. It's amazing how much Fans all over the World love Star Wars. If it wasn't for my playing Lt. Renz I would never have gone to some of the fantastic places and countries that I have been to. It is a strange life isn't it? I never thought that all those years ago I would have the First Talking Mini-Bust of any Star Wars Actor. Which is also the First Imperial Officer to be made into a Mini-Bust as well....going out with a Signed Photo to Fans who buy it from thehttp://www.rebelscum.com/Website in America...the Photo being another First. I am very thrilled with it and had to go to the Gentle Giant Studiios in California to be digitally scanned for it. Great fun! This was thanks to Philip Wise of Rebelscum.com who approached Lucasfilm with the idea first....and the rest as they say is History. I had the pleasure of meeting and working with many famous Actors and Directors over the past Forty years and I enjoyed every moment of it!
