Emily Brinks é uma atriz, produtora, cantora, modelo e fotógrafa americana que trabalhou em vários filmes e programas de televisão como, Fear the Walking Dead, Devotion, Halloween Ends, entre outros.
SWCP: Curiosamente,interpretou dois personagens diferentes na mesma série televisiva "Fear the Walking Dead": Alex (Season 8) and Serena Otto(Season 10).Pode falar um pouco dessa experiência?
E.B: Sim,claro! Essa foi uma experiência tão divertida numa filmagem de oito meses com uma equipa incrível de ótimas pessoas. Fui originalmente contratada no último minuto apenas como um personagem sem nome, mas rapidamente adorei desenvolvê-lo ainda mais e trabalhar em estreita colaboração com o realizador sobre como poderíamos levar a sua história um pouco mais longe. Originalmente, deveríamos ter algumas reuniões de escrita sobre a criação de um enredo com ela e a sua mãe, Diane (interpretada pela adorável Jennifer Christina Palmer), mas como as coisas se movem tão rápido com os prazos para a série, nunca conseguimos inclinar para isso tanto quanto queríamos. Ainda é um dos melhores sets em que já estive e uma honra fazer parte de um projeto tão grande com tantas pessoas talentosas montando cada peça. Foi um trabalho muito cansativo e físico, mas foi ótimo como atriz estar totalmente imersa no mundo que eles construíram ao nosso redor nos cenários, figurinos, adereços, acrobacias de tirar o fôlego, o que você quiser! A maior parte do trabalho que você vê na série foi praticamente feito e realmente não tanto CGI quanto você esperaria.
Fiquei muito feliz por ter sido convidada para entrar como Serena Otto e trabalhar com o incrível James Armstrong e a sua equipa de duplos enquanto ele dirigia esse episódio. Eu tive o melhor duplo,a Kanya Sesser, que ajudou a fazer a acrobacia em que as minhas pernas foram arrancadas no gelo. Essa também foi a primeira vez que usei próteses completas e lentes de contato que precisavam de muitos cuidados especiais e treinamento para usar. Pode parecer muito claustrofóbico dentro dessa máscara durante doze horas, então tive muita sorte de ter pessoas lá me ajudar a andar porque era difícil ver para onde eu estava indo.Tinha de ter um oftalmologista,o Justin, ao meu lado o tempo todo para colocar colírio nos meus olhos a cada 60-90 segundos devido aos tipos de lentes de contato de filme que eles precisavam que eu usasse.
SWCP: Entre as variadas áreas profissionais que exerce,há alguma da qual tenha um carinho muito especial?
E.B: Atualmente sou produtora e atriz na Natchez Film Co., trabalhando na produção de qualquer coisa relacionada com vídeo e áudio. Temos uma ótima instalação de gravação de estúdio de última geração e tem sido muito divertido entrar no lado musical da empresa. Também sou música e cantora, então até mesmo estar perto de outros músicos e artistas é realmente gratificante para mim. O proprietário, Burne Sharp, é um produtor musical indicado ao Grammy e foi o baterista da sua banda de turnê internacional chamada Bishop Gunn. Eles saíram em turnê com o Guns and Roses na Europa, abriram para os Rolling Stones para 75.000 pessoas e trabalharam com inúmeros produtores e artistas talentosos de topo. Tem sido ótimo trabalhar com ele e ter uma visão interna da indústria da música e das pessoas que a dirigem. Burne também é cinegrafista, piloto de drone de cinema e engenheiro de som, então pude obter experiência prática com o aspecto de produção dos filmes que fazemos, juntamente com o lado criativo.
Além de atuar, também adoro design de interiores e pude trabalhar com alguns designers incríveis com os quais colaborei em exibições comerciais extravagantes, design gráfico, design de produção de sessões de fotos e até consultoria para design em residências e imóveis. É apenas mais um facto definido para mim como artista e trabalhando noutro campo criativo que permite que a minha imaginação assuma a liderança!
SWCP: Sabemos que fala Espanhol.Já tentou aprender Português?O que conhece de Portugal?
E.B: Nunca tentei aprender português, mas tive um grande amigo brasileiro na minha escola de design e nas minhas aulas de atuação nós comparávamos idiomas e o que podíamos entender um do outro em espanhol e português. Sempre quis visitar essa área da Europa e adoro viajar e realmente vivenciar a cultura local dos lugares que visito. Aposto que me sentiria muito em casa se visitasse e espero ter a chance de fazê-lo um dia. Eu absolutamente amo a música portuguesa da qual ouço muito, então também gostaria de experimentar mais da arte, comida e cultura que vem de uma parte tão única do mundo.
SWCP:Teve a honra de trabalhar com diretores aclamados como Mark Mylod, Colin Bucksey, David Gordon Green, atores como Al Pacino, Jamie Lee Curtis, Glen Powell, Gerard Butler, etc.Recorda-se de alguma situação engraçada ou incomum que tenha ocorrido com algum deles?
E.B: Não houve nada de incomum, eu diria, todos eles foram pessoas tão divertidas e adoráveis de trabalhar. Posso dizer que todos com quem trabalhei foram muito simpáticos comigo e tem sido um ambiente muito colaborativo em cada set que todos nós pudemos aprender uns com os outros.
Eles também são apenas pessoas e é realmente interessante conhecê-los de uma perspectiva diferente de como eles realmente são pessoalmente ou onde cresceram e também as suas famílias que vêm visitar o set. Os sets de filmagem são definitivamente um lugar para atores desse calibre baixarem a guarda e se sentirem mais como eles mesmos, o que sou muito grata quando posso fazê-los sentir confortáveis o suficiente. Sempre quero criar um ambiente colaborativo e divertido, mas trabalhador e apaixonado para que eles se sintam bem-vindos. Na verdade, fiz muitos grandes amigos nesta indústria e nunca sabemos quando nos veremos novamente, mas tem sido muito divertido aprender sobre a experiência individual de todos nesta indústria e o que o seu trabalho os leva a seguir e as aventuras loucas em que todos nos encontramos. Tive muita sorte de trabalhar com alguns dos melhores neste ofício e realmente gostei de conhecê-los e entender o que os impulsiona no seu trabalho todos os dias e encontrar esses mesmos aspectos dentro de mim.
SWCP: Em que projetos está atualmente a trabalhar?
E.B: Tenho o meu próximo filme com o Al Pacino e Dan Stevens chamado The Ritual,que chega aos cinemas em 2025. Foi um elenco fantástico para trabalhar e parecia um projeto indie muito pequeno e uma família unida. Especialmente com tantas raparigas no elenco, todas nós ficamos muito próximas no set e definitivamente tivemos o melhor interesse uma da outra no coração durante todo o projeto. Abigail Cowen foi uma atriz fenomenal num papel tão exigente neste filme, e ela fez isso tão graciosamente todos os dias! Ela era uma querida que queria ter a certeza de que tudo estava indo bem e que todos estavam sendo cuidados.
Também acabei de terminar um filme chamado Off the Grid, estrelado por Josh Duhamel (Transformers) e Greg Kinnear (The Last Song). Foi um grande filme de ação que foi outra experiência incrível da qual fiz parte. Foi outro aspecto do cinema que fiquei feliz em ter uma experiência com esse nível de trabalho de duplo, explosivos, cenas de perseguição de carros, acrobacias de moto e muitas coreografias de luta extensas. Esperamos trazer mais filmes como este para a nossa cidade de Natchez, Mississippi e todos os incríveis membros da equipa que temos nesta cidade.
SWCP: Que mensagem gostaria de enviar aos seus fãs?
E.B: Eu realmente não posso agradecer a todos o suficiente por pensarem em mim em todos esses projetos diferentes!Respondendo a mensagens do Instagram e conhecendo muitas delas de todo o mundo. Tem sido incrível conversar com eles e saber que muitos deles também são aspirantes a atores e eu sempre digo a eles para fazerem o que amam e nunca perderem de vista a sua imaginação e a si mesmos como artistas neste mundo. Há tantos aspectos na indústria do entretenimento que me deixam animada para experimentar coisas e indústrias novas. Encontra o que te inspira e corre atrás disso diariamente, porque eu garanto que outra pessoa se inspira nas mesmas coisas que tu e há um lugar neste mundo para sua arte existir e ser apreciada por outras pessoas também! Crie arte para si mesmo e o que te faz feliz e continua a fazer isso, independentemente do que os outros te digam!

Emily Brinks is an American Actress, producer, singer, model, and photographer who worked in several movies and Television shows such as Fear the Walking Dead, Devotion, Halloween Ends, among others.
SWCP: Interestingly, you played two different characters in the same TV series "Fear the Walking Dead": Alex (Season 8) and Serena Otto (Season 10). Can you talk a little about this experience?
E.B: Yes of course! That was such a fun experience on an 8 month shoot with an amazing crew of great people. I was originally brought on last minute just as an unnamed character but quickly loved developing it further and working closely with the director on how we could push her story a little bit further. We were originally supposed to have some writing meetings about creating a storyline with her and her mom, Diane (played by the lovely Jennifer Christina Palmer), but as things move so fast with deadlines for the series, we never got to lean into that as much as we wanted. It’s still one of the best sets I’ve been on and such an honor to just be a part of such a massive project with so many talented people putting together each piece. It was very tiring and physical work, but it felt great as an actor to fully be immersed in the world that they built around us in the breathtaking sets, costumes, props, stunts, you name it! Most of the work you see in the show was practically done and really not as much CGI as you’d expect.
I was very happy to then be asked to come in as Serena Otto and work with the amazing James Armstrong and his stunt team while he was directing that episode. I had the best stunt double, Kanya Sesser, who helped pull off the stunt where my legs got snapped off in the ice. That was also my first time using full prosthetics and eye contacts that needed a lot of special care and training to use. It can feel really claustrophobic inside of that mask for 12 hours, so I was very fortunate to have people be there for me and help me even just to walk around, because it was hard to see where I was walking. I had to have an eye technician, Justin, standing next to me at all times to put eye drops in my eyes every 60-90 seconds due to the types of film eye contacts they needed me to wear.
SWCP: Among the various professional areas you exercise, is there any that you have a very special affection for?
E.B: I’m currently a producer and an actress at Natchez Film Co., working on producing anything video and audio related. We have a great state of the art studio recording facility and it’s been really fun to get into the music side of the company as well. I’m also a musician and a singer, so even just being around other musicians and artists is really fulfilling for me. The owner, Burne Sharp, is a Grammy nominated music producer and was the drummer for his international touring band called Bishop Gunn. They went on tour with Guns and Roses in Europe, opened for The Rolling Stones for 75,000 people, and have worked with countless talented producers and artists at the top of the charts. It’s been great working with him and getting an inside look at the music industry from the people who run it. Burne is also a videographer, cinema drone pilot, and a sound engineer, so I’ve been able to get hands-on experience with the production aspect of the films that we make along with the creative side.
Aside from acting, I also have a love for interior designing and have been able to work with some amazing designers that I’ve collaborated with on extravagant retail displays, graphic designing, photoshoot production designing, and even consulting for design in residential homes and real estate. It’s just another fact set for me as an artist and working in another creative field that lets my imagination take the lead!
SWCP: We know you speak Spanish. Have you tried to learn Portuguese? What do you know about Portugal?
E.B: I have never tried to learn Portuguese, but I did have a great friend at my design school in my acting classes who was from Brazil, so we would compare languages and what we could understand of each other in Spanish and Portuguese. I have always wanted to visit that area of Europe and I love traveling and really experiencing the local culture of the places that I visit. I bet it would feel a lot like home if I visited and I hope I get the chance to do so one day. I do absolutely love Portuguese music that I listen to a lot, so I’d also want to experience more of the art, food, and culture that comes from such a unique part of the world.
SWCP: You had the honor of working with acclaimed directors such as Mark Mylod , Colin Bucksey, David Gordon Green, actors such as, Al Pacino, Jamie Lee Curtis, Glen Powell, Gerard Butler,etc. Do you remember any funny or unusual situation that happened to any of them?
E.B: There hasn’t been anything unusual I would say, they have all been such fun and lovely people to work with. I can say that everyone I’ve worked with has been very nice with me and it’s been a very collaborative environment on each set that we’ve all been able to learn from each other.
They’re just people too and it’s really interesting to get to know them from a different perspective of just what they’re really like in person or where they grew up and their families that come to visit set. Film sets are definitely a place for actors of that caliber to let their guard down and feel more like themselves, which I’m very thankful when I can make them feel comfortable enough to do so. I always want to create a collaborative and fun, but hard working and passionate environment for them to feel welcomed. I’ve actually made a lot of great friends in this industry and we never know when we’ll get to see each other again, but it’s been a lot of fun learning about everyone’s individual experience in this industry and what their job leads them to next and the crazy adventures we all find ourselves in. I’ve been very lucky to work with some of the best in this craft and have really just taken a liking to getting to know them and understanding what drives them forward in their work each day and finding those same aspects within myself.
SWCP: What projects are you currently working on?
E.B: I have my next movie with Al Pacino and Dan Stevens called, The Ritual, coming to theatres in 2025. That was such a fantastic cast to work with and it felt like a very small indie project and a close-knit family. Especially with so many girls in the cast, we all got very close on set and definitely had each other’s best interest at heart throughout the project. Abigail Cowen was such a phenomenal actress to see her go through such a demanding role in this movie, and she did it so graciously every day! She was a sweetheart who wanted to make sure that everything was going smoothly and that everyone was being taken care of.
I also just wrapped on a movie called, Off the Grid, starring Josh Duhamel (Transformers) and Greg Kinnear (The Last Song). It was a huge action movie that was another incredible experience to be a part of. It was another aspect of filmmaking that I was happy to get an experience with that level of stunt work, explosives, car chase scenes, motorcycle stunts, and lots of extensive fight choreography. We’re hoping to bring more movies like this to our town of Natchez, Mississippi and all of the amazing crew members that we have in this town.
SWCP: What message would you like to send to your fans?
E.B: I really can’t thank everyone enough for thinking of me through all of these different projects! I find myself answering Instagram messages and getting to know a lot of them from all over the world. It’s been incredible to talk to them and learn that a lot of them are aspiring actors as well and I always tell them to do what you love and never lose sight of your imagination and yourself as an artist in this world. There are so many aspects to the entertainment industry that makes me excited to try new things and industries. Find what inspires you and go after it daily, because I guarantee that someone else is inspired by the same things as you and there’s a place in this world for your art to exist and be appreciated by other people too! Create art for yourself and what makes you happy and just keep doing that, regardless of what anyone else tells you!
